I was going to wait, but now seems a topical moment to mention it..... As a long-standing council member who decided to step aside due to health issues, I would like to announce that I intend to stand for re-election this year. For the good of the region, it was right that I stood down when I did. But, now my RL health issues are 'mostly' resolved, it is time I got my office back. Yes, that's right. I said MY office.

Discoveria, Vampkyrie, Urdustan, and Disturbing world

In my recollection, it lasts right at 36 hours. Everyone in every region of the RL world starts at the same time. It is critically important you start at the beginning, or you will be overwhelmed by zombies while you sleep and have to depend on other nations to rescue you.

There are three basic approaches:

(1) Cure the Zombies;
(2) Kill the Zombies; and
(3) Join the Zombies.

If you decide on option 1, you will tell NS that your nation is "researching a cure." After about an hour, your nation will start building cure missiles which you can fire at other nations in the region. Once a nation is Zombie-free, it tends to stay that way unless it has chosen option 3, or someone else who has chosen option 3 reinfects it.

If you decide on option 2, you will develop roving killing squads that turn Zombies into dead people. As above, your can send your death squads into other nations in the region to kill their Zombies, too.

If you decide on option 3, you will become very infected very quickly. After an hour or so, you will be able to infect your neighbours or go to other regions and "spread the wealth."

Last year, we were something like the region with the 17th largest numbers of survivors and 14th largest region with no infection. I would like for us to do at least as well again this year.

Here's the plan:

I. At the beginning of the crisis, I will temporarily close our borders to keep out unwanted "guests." If you leave the region, you will probably not be able to make it back in until the crisis is over.
II. I strongly suggest we ALL research the cure. The point of the game is to have the most survivors, so dead people don't count.
III. Anyone who wants to join the zombies should voluntarily leave the region or I will be forced to temporarily eject you for the duration of the crisis--please return after the Apocalypse!
IV. Particularly at the beginning, when your cure missiles are weakest, target the largest nations first--your first few missile strikes will go a surprisingly long way with those nations with 20B+ populations. The 6 largest nations are: Emory, Haldana, Gracieland, Omni-Palonie, BearNation, and Kundu.
V. As the largest nations become zombie-free, turn your attention to other nations, especially apparently inactive ones. Your missiles will be getting stronger, so it won't be QUITE so tedious to rid medium and smaller nations of Zombies. If you leave even a few million Zombies, they will start multiplying again, so be sure the nation you're curing goes completely infection-free!
VI. It takes a minute or so between missile shots, so I advocate that you have 2 or 3 nations (or more if you're really efficient or have someone helping you) online at the same time with different browsers. You might have nation W on Chrome, X on Opera, Y on MSIE, and Z on Safari. Once you fire one missile, immediately switch to the next nation and so forth. By the time you've used your last browser, the first one will be ready to go again!
VII. Be aware that when a nation is hit with any of the three approaches, it cannot do anything for 60-90 seconds, so if you see nations being very active, don't strike them at first. Wait until they stop firing before curing them.
VIII. Perhaps you and 1-2 friends can tag-team a particular nation at a time, continuously bombarding it with cure missiles--it will become infection-free MUCH faster that way.
IX. As the night wears on, network with other awake nations to find any obscure nations with remaining infection.
X. Report any "Join Zombie" nations to me so I can temporarily eject them.
XI. Once the region is completely infection free (usually the next day), you might consider voluntarily leaving Gay to help cure some of our allied/embassied regions. Most regions will be VERY grateful for any help!
XII. Even if you don't plan to stay up at all late, still be sure to research the cure in the first hour of the crisis, so you can at least heal yourself. STARTING EARLY IS KEY. If you wait until 99% of your population is zombified or dead, you won't have any resources to research the cure, since all your scientists will be in the bellies of the walkers! :D

Remember, this is a game, so have fun playing with the Zombies! Note that once the crisis is over, there will be no permanent effects on your nation--everyone will return to their complete populations, no more Zombies, etc.

Ah yes, the one time each year that we actually look forward to having death squads roaming the streets...

So I think the Smitty Werbermanjensen nation got deleted... tbh I'm a little sad.

Since I am a pretty large nation, I will be removing myself to a puppet storage region for the duration. That way I won't infect Gay with zombie hordes due to inactivity on my part.

I think I'm doing the same, since I'm new and I'm afraid to make a zombie-mess in this region. LOL

Disturbing world

When thinking about it, the new "regional appointed officer" could drive an increase of regions merging, which is pretty cool to me.

Disturbing world

Good God. It's been since last year's August since the economy dropped.

I wish you all good luck on Halloween, but i won't be present at this Zombie Invasion.

I am going to take an active part in Election monitoring for the coming elections in southeast turkey.

This is a safe haven for you to celebrate yourself and your community.
Disruptive people will be shown to the door.

People are welcome to discussion, but calling homosexuals inferior is not complying with the safe haven nature of this region. Your opinions are your opinions. You do not get to instruct the founder how to act when you come as a guest and insult the party goers.

I agree with others. You look like a troll. You sound like a troll.

I guess, when talking of superiority and inferiority, he missed the part of your name which begins with E. Equality will always be superior to superiority, and is kind of important in an open-minded discussion.

I will be gone, less active anyway, for a month or so. I won't be here for the zombie invasion, not will I be here for the bulk of November. Surgery will have me out of it.

I don't want ANYONE to leave the region for Halloween because they personally won't be able to participate in The Cure. There will be enough active nations to take care of your plague. Remember, our score will be determined by the number of LIVING members of Gay when all is said and done. If you leave that counts as if all of your citizens were dead.

The only people I want to leave (temporarily, of course) are those who want to make common cause with the zombies. Having even one nation with one million infected citizens will kick us entirely off of the second scoreboard, largest regions with no infection.

ah, i am not calling atheism a religion; it seems that non-atheists (diests) often use that argument. they like to say that science is a religion, as well. i am TOTALLY an atheist, i just prefer naturalist to avoid conflit; i live in a part of the world where it seems everyone i meet seems to be born again, jehovah's witness, or catholic.

i started with atheist, but everybody i meet seems to freak out at the word "atheist", so i use naturalist. most of thet time people just look at me blankly, then continue with their diatribe; i like to avoid conflict!

It states that both sexualities are good, decent, and proper, but that heterosexuality is better, more decent, and more proper.

This will be my first zombie apocalypse. I think I understand most of how it works, but I'm confused about the border closing. This region plus another I have a puppet in both say they'll close the borders and that we can leave to help cure other regions after we cure this one. However, if regions close their borders, how can we change regions to help any others? Do most not close their borders and I'm just in 2 that happen to do that?
