Safety shortcuts just don't improve productivity.

"Over the 11-year period from 2001-02 to 2011-12 the incidence rate of serious claims decreased 31% from 25.2 serious claims per 1000 employees in 2001-02 to 17.5 in 2012-13p"
AND
"Over the 11 years from 2003 to 2013 the fatality rate has decreased 68% from 5.71 per 100 000 workers to 1.85…"

The Crikey article deliberate misleads making the claim "... Getting rid of the ABCC coincided with a significant fall in the number of workers being killed on building sites." However when you look at the figures of the SWA report that Crikey itself references deaths in the industry have been on a downward trend which is the statistics I quoted above. There is no causation, just cherrypicking a few volatiles years - the highest year was 2007 when Kevin Rudd won, perhaps all those extra deaths in 2007 were from Unions hanging Work Choices signs from power poles - but I am not going to make such a baseless argument!

I am not going to correlate unrelated claims and say that the ABCC is what caused the reductions but your claim about causing deaths and your links are misleading (Crikey) or simply stating the Union view without facts (SMH) but it is like saying that there is a correlation between the worldwide number of pirates is linked to increasing global temperatures! I just assumed that with multiple sources, including Fairfax, that there was reasonable truth to it, especially claims that people couldn't stop work in various cases of severe hazards.
The real truth would be to see if there are any actual workplace deaths that could have been prevented, and I assue if that was the case then it would have been trumpeted.

Popping in from APSIA to say hello.

Then we can celebrate invasion day each year as well! And a new public holiday for veterans of the new war!

So did you hear about Papua New Guinea's Supreme court decision? They want us take the boat-people off their hands!

So yeah, I'm not dead.
As for the poll, I don't quite know who I'm going to vote for.

  • I would never vote for the Liberal party.

  • Shorten is a joke.

  • I don't really like the Greens.

  • No decent independents in my electorate.

  • Nationals are pretty much Liberal 2.0

  • Socialist Alliance doesn't field a candidate in my electorate, even then I would be kinda unsure.

  • East gondwana

Does anyone know where I can find out who's on the ballot for a specific electorate, or hasn't that been conformed yet?

I don't think it's been announced yet, no.
Although you can find out specific information about your electorate on the AEC website.
