I can see the funny side, for sure. This is one of the dumbest pieces that I've ever read- really quite impressively dumb, in fact. What makes it much funnier is the fact that the author is a reasonably good writer- his grammar and spelling are above average; he has a large vocabulary, and knows how to use it. The incongruity of the good writing style and the mind-numbingly stupid thesis is absolutely marvelous. So my initial reaction was to laugh.

But then I thought about it. This is an educated man, who not only believes in biblical literalism himself (he's a young earth creationist), but is trying to convince other people about it as well. He's smart enough to understand Evolution; he's probably smart enough to understand some Philosophy of Science. But he chooses not to. Instead, he chooses ignorance, gives up his rationality, and blindly follows the teachings of a (probably non-existent) crazy man who (purportedly) lived around 2000 years ago. And that's depressing.

True catholic bigots Welcome to Bible Beltsville :)

Intelectual atheists

Don't worry about him, he probably was brainwashed to belive it when he was a kid.

I'm fine. Just a passing moment of sympathy for the self-deceived.

My wife brought the latest Noah DVD, starring Russell Crowe, from Hastings yesterday and I struggled to sit through the whole nine yards of it. Needless to say the story line was total garbage, and apart from some reasonable special effects, the film itself was not much better!

I'm sorry to hear that. Considering the quality of the actors--or at least their star power, and thus the amount of money that must have gone into hiring them--I was hoping that the film would be worth a look. And since I've yet to read the Bible, I wouldn't even be hurling insults at the film for screwing around with the source material! Thank you for the warning.

Don't worry, you're not alone.

You're alone. So very very alone.

Aw. Sorry you're lonely.

Cemetery sentinels

Thanks guys, I feel somewhat better now :)

True catholic bigots

Occasional loneliness is part of the human condition. It happens, and when it does, it's crap. I'm glad that you're feeling cheerier :)

We wouldn't want you to invent an imaginary friend to keep you company...

What's wrong with imaginary friends? I've got 2, I talk to them and they work in mysterious ways. lol I didn't know what to say, but I'm also glad you're over your funk and feeling better!!

What's wrong with puppets? With them you can change your personality and pretend to be somebody else for a while, and then go back to being 'yourself' again without anyone else knowing :)

So...When you create a puppet, you're making yourself your own imaginary friend. That's cool. I like that.

Who said anything about an imaginary 'friend' - maybe it's more of a Jekyll and Hyde scenario? :)

(my 2 imaginary friends are the 'god and the devil' : )

Whoa, maybe. But let's hope not.

How do you all feel about the decision in Ferguson , Missouri?

Cemetery sentinels

From afar, we have to trust the powers-to-be that thay have reviewed ALL the available evidence and that their decision not to prosecute was in the best interests of justice. Idiots like Le Bron, and others, would seem to not care about evidence, just revenge and will label the whole sorry affair as a sleight against Afro-Americans.

"We live in a country where the same people who slander the police, will be the same ones begging for their help one day. Where the people who burn the American flag, are the same ones living on government assistance. Racism is alive, but ignorance is alive as well. The double standards and race cards have to stop. Wanna change the "System?" Become lawyers, judges, politicians, and those police officers. BE THE SYSTEM. Enough said." I wanted to post this on my facebook but I don't have the courage to do it.
