Everyone already knows how problematic the use of the "yellow filter" and stereotypical characterizations and representations are in films (especially American ones) that portray Mexico and other Latin American countries.

But, it's really ironic how some Brazilians, especially those from the Southeast, who criticize (with absolute reason) the way "Hollywood" portrays Latin America in their works, while at the same time reproducing similar stereotypes and distortions in their own productions about the Northeast (including even the famous "yellow filter").

I was watching a soap opera that recently came out on a very famous television channel here in Brazil, and, no joke, how had I never noticed such a ridiculous portrayal?
