What a mild Summer so far! NewAustin has not even hit 100 yet! How is it going in New Aztlan? Doing anything fun this Summer?

Anybody else doing/did something fun?

Not to worry partner Texas won't disappoint you for hot weather it's just saving the worst for last.

I've already had my intended fun during summer, thank you very much.

The "Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch" thing is seriously on Google's auto complete. Look back in the RMB a little and you'll find the video.

I know.

I miss Texas summers--walking to the lake, barbecues in the backyard with baseball on the radio, fireflies. It is still quite strange having snow in July and Christmas in summer. Random diatribe, continue where you left off!

Just head over to California their the ones who stole Texas's Summer. I will tell Abbot to demand our hot unbearable summers back from the Californians. :)

California actually looks average on this May 2015 Map, go to a red area to get above average summer tempetures.

I see the new WA resolution is as liberal as ever.

It hasn't been real hot here this summer. We didn't steal your weather, trust me. I think Washington State did.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note for which Resolution. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Prohibiting Animal Abuse
A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency Strength: Significant Proposed by: Losthaven

Description: The Member Nations of the World Assembly:

Recognizing that animals are"...

<see page=ga for full text>

Interestingly enough, this is not an Environmental issue, but a case of "moral decency". This one sure sounds like most environmental legislation with its Save the World, Hug a Tree, Adopt a Pet kind of appeals. Now, we are not anti-animal or cruel or anything, but the strictures this places on commercial animal processing are just not feasible in many of today's nations of exceptionally high populations and limited space. Point #5 in particular would be wonderful in a perfect world, but this is not a perfect world. As a example, chickens. Sure, it would be great if the billions and billions and billions of chickens in NewTexas could all run around all free and all on the range, laying eggs all willy-nilly wherever they want, but in reality, we do not have that much land nor the resources to deal with that. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was up on the last GA vote -- Protected Status in Wartime -- which was passed after gaining 83.27% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 6 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 4 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were a little split.

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Monday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00pm Texas Time on Tuesday the 14th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 2150 Votes AGAINST: 1509

No. Europe did. It was 100 Degrees in London during the Wimbledon Quarterfinals. Paris, Germany, and Most of Central and Western Europe received similar tempetures.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

WooHootie Saturday Breakfast Time! To help kill off Fourth of July leftovers, for today's breakfast we will be serving Saturday Brisket Breakfast Tacos! The Big Tex Happy Taco Stands of NewTexas smoked up a couple too many metric tons of beef brisket for the Fourth, so we are giving away the leftovers to Texans in breakfast taco form. Never had brisket for breakfast? Have we got a treat for you! We will start things off with a classic Brisket & Egg Taco - Texas Grade A, farm-fresh, hen house, jumbo eggs scrambled to perfection, topped with two super-tender slices of smoky beef brisket and rolled in a hot, homemade, Texas-sized flour tortilla. We could stop right there, but we won't. Hundreds of Abuelitas have been up all night simmering beans, both pinto & black, for fresh refried beans to go on our Brisket & Bean Taco! These bad boys have a healthy smear of you favorite refrieds, thick-sliced brisket and are topped off with mild Longhorn Cheddar or spicy Pepper Jack cheese. This is melt-in-your-mouth goodness! And, if you are a meat and potatoes kind of person, you will love our Brisket & Potato Taco! First we fry up diced potatoes in a little brisket fat with some sliced onions, then we stir in chopped brisket to make a hash out of it and slap it in a fresh hot flour tortilla and top it with grilled Poblano strips. Oh yeah! We are not stopping there peeps! Try the Kitchen Sink! It starts with a full 12" handmade flour tortilla smeared with your choice of refried beans, your choice of cheese, copious amounts of scrambled eggs, double-thick slices of smoky beef brisket, more eggs, fried potatoes, more cheese, homemade guacamole and topped with super-crispy, super-tasty burnt ends. You will be hard pressed to keep this beast closed, much less, fit it into your mouth. It doesn't get any better than that in brisket for breakfast! Enjoy! We will open The Juice Bar is with all the standard juices - Orange, Apple, Grapefruit and Tomato. This week's funky stuff is, drumroll please, Death By Citrus - Orange, Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Citron, Clementine, Kumquat, Pomelo, Tangelo & Yuzu!!! Try "The Suicide" - all the juices, in one glass - we dare you! Start your day off the right way, munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Enjoy Texas! You know you want to!®

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

We have an all new Chat Site this year that is much better than the old one. It is here if you want to go straight there: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, ex-Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans and Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 547 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 10¾ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity Area of Effect: Educational Proposed by: Bitely

Description: NOTING the interest that humanity has of exploring the cosmos"...

<see page=ga for full text>

Oh boy, as the former host to The United Nations Space Consortium, we were initially thrilled by the prospects of a new international space body. However, as was pointed out by a number of nations in the halls of the General Assembly, this one is just not ready for prime time. Overall, it is way too vague to be effective and way to costly to be of value to many of the member nations. We think the author just got kind of excited and jumped the gun. We would like to see this hashed out and thoroughly debated and reworked in the future, but this is not it. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was up on the last GA vote -- Prohibiting Animal Abuse -- which was passed after gaining 71.06% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! General Assembly or Security Council?

General assembly.

Lichian wrote:General assembly.

I agree with you. These lines alone are distressing.

"v. Create cosmos travel bylaws and policies.

vi. Regulate all WA member states cosmos travel."

If there is any hope of space travel would anyone want an international agency to regulate it? How would this WSA be governed? I don't have any problem with supporting space exploration, but this approval for an ill-defined agency is unwise.

My thoughts exactly. Another problem is that we don't know how they're going to regulate space travel. I mean, what if they ban or severely limit the research of FTL technology? What if they prohibit nations from claiming even the tiniest land on a foreign planet as their own? Well, there goes my entire space program.

Like the banning of texting while driving IRL enforcing any space travel regulations is impossible to about 98% of the Space travel capable nations.

We don't have a problem with a sort of Coalition or Federation of space traveling nations.

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And rememqber Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Liberate The Black Riders
A resolution to strike down Delegate-imposed barriers to free entry in a region.

Category: Liberation Nominee (region): The Black Riders Proposed by: The Kiss Master

Description: The Security Council,

Recalling The Black Riders as an region dedicated to the griefing"...

<see page=sc for full text>

Ok, we are now going to adopt the stance that we are not going to support the bastardization of the Liberation category of Security Council Resolutions ever again. This one is attempting to keep The Black Riders region unlocked for potential "liberation" (read invasion by "defenders") even if they refound the region. That is not what the Liberation initiative is for. Whatever chicken, hiding behind a brand new nation, who authored this knows they ae up to something shady, otherwise, they would have been forthcoming with it and used their real nation. This is just f'd up and we will not be any part of it. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was flat on the last SC vote -- Commend Flemingovia -- which was passed after gaining 88.82% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 5 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 5 FOR and 0 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!
