The only country to baisically keep their asia-land-war-land was Russia with Siberia, and maybe China and North Vietnam. Of course there are exceptions and additions, but for the most part don't start a land war in asia. That said I baisically give my military 3/4 of my taxes, so I just might have to.

It's a understandably misunderstood myth. It could just as easily be applied to "never wage a land war in Africa or South America or North America." The joke is derived from a quote misattributed to US general MacArthur during the Korean War, and is itself derivative of a US military policy for decades that viewed Asia as a "maritime" front. It works for tabletop games like Risk though. Asia is always hard to conquer there. ;)

And if you do start it, do it in the more reasonable climates or in the spring time... :P

You're not suggesting June 22 wouldn't work, are you?

Has anyone ever played Diplomacy? I really want to. I like how there are no turns. Guess what country I want to play as.

Nor would June 24th.... :D

I am afraid I don't follow. I probably just can't recall it right now.

I think there is slight confliction in the date, but, the start of Napoleon's Invasion of Russia.

When I was in 'Germany' about 12 years ago, it was basically a Nazi region. Nice to see that time has changed.

Thank you. Silly Napoleon, He invaded Russia without winter gear. And no Von Runstedt.

Sehr gut!

Lol certainly just as many personalities to deal with, including his own. He did have Berthier, Davout though & two of my personal favorites and unsung heroes of his forces, Józef Poniatowski & his stepson Eugène de Beauharnais.

Hi! Welcome back, I had seen you came in and I'm sorry I had not said hello yet. Widerstand, ja?? An interesting subject I am just starting to look at more.

Yes, the region was originally a German Empire based one and has been our dominion for a rather longtime now. It has become more of a general gathering of folks interested in all things German. :)

During a recent severe storm, the airship GAS-Hiddenburg caught fire and ended up making a crash landing in Berlin. Everyone on board as well as several hundred people on the ground were killed in the resulting inferno. Reporter Herb Morris' incredible live coverage of the disaster and the media circus surrounding the safety of such vessels has people looking to the government for solutions.

Oh my gosh the irony of this...

I know right! On a side note, I feel bad for old General Hindenberg. It's a shame no one could even give him a proper zepplin.

Why couldn't the U.S. just GIVE GERMANY THE HELIUM???

In fact, the members of 'Die Weisse Rose' are considered by most Germans as the greatest German heroes! Thank you, I appreciate when people read about it.

When I was at school (in Germany) a relative long chapter was dedicated to this tiny group, even if their actual impact was low. The Nazi regime just again showed its ugly face and killed those 'kids' while German people continued to ' behave so apathetically in the face of all these abominable crimes, crimes so unworthy of the human race '  (the latter from a leaflet of the white rose).

However, they have a lot of symbolic power, and I almost teared up remembering those brave students while standing in the atrium of the university of Munich. Even if I feel, in terms of all the pain and shame that the Third Reich implemented in our German hearts, we like to clutch at those few people like drowning men at straws.

Just the humble opinion of a relatively proud German, who hereby promoted his nation a bit. ; )

Hey people, I'm heading towards America (first).

Stay clean and keep the region running!

Thanks for shelter and all!

See you guys around!

PS: I'm gonna ask them for some helium there and send it to you per ultra high pressure express parcel asap.

As a German fellow countryman I disagree with your assessment about the status of the "Weisse Rose" in Germany. Most Germans dont't know them and the most would consider Thomas Müller their hero... or Franz Beckenbauer or Uli Hoeneß, somebody related to football

Following new legislation in GermanyDeutschland, atheists are heavily taxed.

Who is Thomas Müller?

I'm just kidding ... Ya, right, good that you clarified. 'Most Germans' is wrongly said, sry.

Definitely, the members of the white rose are completely outcompeted by any football hero. However, I wonder, is Hoeneß still in prison because of massive tax evasion? Will they still name streets and places after Beckenbauer (like they did for the members of the white rose) after his potential involvement in the Worldcup 2006 corruption?

The kind of heroism the white rose is associated with, is different and gets much less attention from the common people and is rather acknowledged by Germany as 'political state' and people who think about history apart from sports.
