Rufford's recent history starts in 1918, after the great war had finished, Rufford was then a nation, about the size of Britain, In scandinavia. At the end of the great war, Ruffordian ships stormed the north German coast and also the polish coast. Ruford then held the areas that used to be known as Denmark, Scandinavia, North Germany and North Poland. Rufford also occupied a volcanic island in the north pacific known as Iceland. Iceland served as an important trade route between Rufford and Aldanari and still does today.
During the Great war, Ruffords geographical position always protected it from invasion, and it was a good strategic allie for Avtorcrator and Aldanari.

The inter war years saw Rufford's borders shift slightly. In the east, several grevskaps (the Ruffordian equivilent of a county, state or province) gained independance and became part of the Soviet Union. There was great political tension on parts of the polish border, with some wanting to gain independence, some wanting to join the Soviet Union, some wanting to rejoin poland and in the German grevskaps, there were groups who wanted to join a reformed Germany under the new leadership of Hitler, who was seen by many, before world war two, as a hero. During this tense time, the economy boomed. As the clouds of war grew ever larger, the shipyards suddenly had more work than ever and Rufford's already prosperous arms manufacturing industry was larger more efficient and made more money than ever. As Hitler threatened Rufford even more, and Avtorcrator-German relations further deteriorated over the protection of Poland, more Ruffordian forces where stationed along the south border and Rufford and the Soviet Union signed a non aggression pact.

In 1939 WW2 started with Avtorcrator declaring war on Germany Rufford also declared war 5 days later and 10 days after Rufford declared war, the Allies were established, the major nations being Avtorcrator, Rufford, China, Aldanari, Australia ( At this time Australia was split between Rufford and Avtorcrator), India ( Was also split between Rufford and Avtorcrator), France and several other nations. During the war, Rufford suffered no poverty or shortages as, apart from its own massive amount of natural resources was also now an allie of the Soviet Union which also had its own massive amount of resources, the two nations shared a large of border and transport was easy. Rufford made up north and north east Europe and was impossible to blockade.

During the war, much of northern Europe was conquered by Rufford, and they maintained constant pressure trying to break into central Europe. Once France was liberated, Germany claimed Belgium and the Netherlands as parts of Germany and in 1945, Ruffordian forces charged into what was Belgium and the Netherlands and secured those areas. Further on into 1945, Allied forces rallied, The French and Avtorcratians stormed Germany from the west, the Soviets stormed the east and Rufford advanced from the north. when they all got to Berlin, within days it was conquered, the nazi party had been in ruins for weeks and its collapse was completed with the suicide of Hitler. During the last months of the European war, the allies and nazi Germany had all been developing their super weapons- the atomic bomb. On august the 6th, 1945 Aldanari used its atomic bomb on Japan bomb, and a new age dawned, the Nuclear age dawned.

#2-1945-present

After the war, victorious Rufford now in possesion of most of northern Europe. Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg where all re-established and there was a heated debate within the government on Germany. Rufford possesed all of northern Germany and it was decided that All of what was Germany before ww1 (which was part of Rufford) would be kept and west parts would go to west Germany and the east parts would go to east Germany.

As the soviet union increased its power in east European states, Rufford set out its plan to increase its influence in southern and central Europe, therefore insuring west Rufford is safe. The soviets had established the Easten Bloc and Rufford shared borders with many of those countrys. Rufford's new borders where at the time this: Rufford in western Europe was the parts of what today is north east France and North Germany, an area of Rufford known as Denmark and a band of areas across the north European cost, The Baltics, Part of what was the North East of the Russian Empire, Scandanavia and an island called Iceland.
