LEpedia - Hooseria Magna
From LEpedia, the Lands End online encyclopedia. The Confraternition of Hooseria Magna (Latin: Confraternitas Hooseriae, Bavasian: Neepachire Bavazuthie), commonly known as the Hooseria, is a country primarily located in Amnis, consisting of 27 provinces, a federal district, and two semi-autonomous regions. Hooseria Magna covers an area of about 300,000 square miles. With a population of over 95 million, it is one of the most populous countries in the world. The national capital is Hooserapolis, and the most populous city is Vabas. Section 2 Section 3 Environment Wildlife and Conservation Language Religion Health Education The Confraternition of Hooseria Magna is lead by a Governor (lat. Consul) who is the head of the Senate (lat. Senatus). The Senate is a group of 27 senators, one from each province (lat. provinciae), and is the upper house in HM. They are the primary house for making and passing laws. The lower house is the Publica, with the number of Praetors being determined by each state’s senate. They are less important to the creation of laws and focus more on vetoing Senate actions (which can be overturned by a 2/3 vote in the Senate). The Governor is chosen in a special vote of the Senate and Publica to select the Governor for a one year term, with senators having two votes (almost always based on a popular vote in their province) and each Praetor having one vote (usually based on their party). The Senate position, therefore, it the most important position in a state. The Senators and Praetors are chosen through approval voting where everyone votes for those who they are ok with being in office. There are many different parties so coalitions are used to pass legislation. There are one year terms for Praetors and two year terms for Senators. Elections take place every April 9th, in celebration of the day that Hooseria Magna’s Civil War ended. The name of Hooseria Magna is the Latin for "The Great Land of Hoosiers." The word "Hoosier" comes from the name of the chief who led the Hoosier tribe from Hansa, Rex Samulus Samulus Hoosier. The Bavasian name "Bavazuthie" comes from the proto-bavasian words "Pafasu" meaning forests and "theye" meaning land. Therefore, the name means "The Land of Forests."
