Devrezanekya

Off-course: Part 1, Zanifar Bay:

A Devrezanekyan ship was sailing thorough the seas south of Devrezanekya. The expedition was led by the self proclaimed Ahmet Reis (he/him), a privateer captain. Ahmet wasn’t a member of the Devrezanekyan Navy, rather someone who cooperated with them. He had earned the honorary title of Reis (Ottoman Turkish Admiral) through his deeds rather than promotion. Ahmet had brought his ship all the way south through the Bay of Zanifar in search of new goods and trade partners. The land route for bringing luxury fabrics and spices to Devrezanekya was getting increasingly inconvenient. Trade with people along the Zanifar Bay was beneficial but it wasn’t all Ahmet had in mind. His goal was to find a way to access the lands of the Far East and their markets. This was a prime opportunity as well since Devrezanekya’s long term Northern rival Naviatio was exploring the frigid sea routes of the North. Devrezanekya must be able to secure trade deals with the great powers of the East before Naviatio could bring its ships through the Northern route. He would become one of the most famed Devrezaneks of all time if he started up a trade route with the Far East. Just as Ahmet pondered this a large wave swept over the ship and shook it.

Ahmet Reis: “Is everyone alright?”

Iakovos: “Aye, no-one fell over board, Captain.”

Ahmet Reis: “Ah, good.”

Iakovos: “Should we head back into waters protected by the Bay to escape these dreaded waves?”

Katina: “I think Iakovos is right Captain, we should find shelter from the waves.”

Ahmet Reis was about to give a response but right at that moment another wave came crashing in, shaking the boat side to side. A few crew members were knocked off of the ship this time, and Ahmet looked to the sky and to his horror saw that it was gray and swirling.

Ahmet Reis: “It seems the great Anemo Archon, Lady Alizeh, does not approve of our expedition. Or perhaps this is a test to see if we can persevere even when her divine wind isn’t in our favour. Either case, it’s a full on storm. Everyone get below deck!”

The ship was shaken around through the harsh weather, wind pushing its sails far off-course from the carefully calculated route concocted by Ahmet and his advisors. Sailors hung on to the wooden ship for dear life as the ocean and wind tossed it around like a paper toy. Either this was pure chance or both the Anemo and Hydro Archon wished this expedition to fail. Ahmet looked down at his Naviatian-made compass which was spinning like crazy as the ship turned in all directions. He had fled to the captain’s quarters, the safest room on the ship. He wasn’t heartless though and since he didn’t want anyone else to die, invited all who could fit in the room as well. The only downside is that the room was far too full and definitely usable. Ahmet would just have to wait for the storm to pass. Just then a loud crack was heard by everyone on the wooden vessel. One of three crew mates from earlier, Iakovos, ran in and said:

Iakovos: “Captain! The ship is breaking!”

Ahmet Reis: “Everyone, get to a life boat as quickly as you can!”

Mehmed: “In this storm, captain!? All small boats will surely be overturned.”

Ahmet Reis: “Do as I say. It may be low but this is our best chance of survival.”

People began to escape on lifeboats. Ahmet stuffs all the maps that he can into his large coat and then gets on a boat as well. It seems the sea has partially calmed, but they must leave the ship since it is sinking. Ahmet feels the water with his hand, it’s still warm but less like the sun is constantly beating down on it. These waters were somewhere he nor his ship had ever sailed. One sailor sighted land and the fleet of small, boats headed in that direction. They arrived at a port town with beautiful architecture and scenery. The citizens were dressed in well made fabrics, something which Ahmet took note of for future trade deals. Ahmet was happy, as despite going off course, losing his beloved ship, and nearly dying, he had done what he set out to do. He had sailed to a country previously unfamiliar to Devrezanekya, he had found a new trading partner for the Sublime Porte. He then greeted the people who were waiting at the port:

Ahmet Reis: “Sorry for our intrusion into your town. I am Ahmet Reis, a merchant captain of the Empire of Devrezankya. I was sailing and my ship was launched off course and then destroyed due to terrible weather and chance. What is this nation called? And may I speak with your leader to discuss trade deals between our two great nations.”

Off-Course,Part 2:Hon Kil Tohn
The name and surname of the port comandant was Ming Kil Toh.His secretary also shared the surname with the boss,as well as many clerks, messengers and other parts of the bureaucratic mechanism of the big port except sailors. No,this is not a nepotism,it’s tradition. You see,any bureaucrat or any other official take the surname of the boss as a sign of great respect..Yeah,it’s pretty complicated but well,it’s cultural.
So,one of the minor bureaucrats suddenly turned into representative of Goryugoan state
because no one superior was around except him
He was called Hon Kil Tohn
Moving through the crowd of spectators he had spotted Ahmet Reis and came closer to him..
-I greet you, strangers. You have accidentally came to the land of Gorugyo..unfortunately you have bumped on the cost of its most wayward province,so I can’t tell you, will the King arrive to you fast enough-

Devrezanekya

The Great Fair, Part 1

Devrezanekya, Capital District, Konstantiniyye

A grand festival was to be had within Konstantiniyye, the capital and crown jewel of the Empire of Devrezanekya. This was no ordinary festival, but a new one sponsored by the Padişah himself. It was to be called The World Festival of Trade and Technology (TR: Dünya Ticaret ve Teknoloji Festivali). This festival would have goods and marvels brought from all over the Empire showcased within Konstantiniyye’s Grand Bazaar. The most important part however, is that the Emperor decided to send letters inviting the great kingdoms of the world to attend this festival. Demirhan Paşa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was tasked with writing said letter. It reads:

Sultan Kasim Han Hazretleri of the Empire of Devrezanekya would like to invite the leader of your esteemed country, your archon, and diplomats to attend a most extraordinary event. Our Padişah intends to host a world fair of magnificent proportions, titled The World Festival of Trade and Technology. Within this festival, kingdoms and inventors show off their progress whether it be magical, technological, or something else entirely. Our Padişah is also offering foreign diplomats and leaders to see the inner working of our court and Sublime Empire if they choose to attend this festival. Devrezanekya will be showcasing it’s latest ship technologies, innovations in gunsmithing, hot air balloons, devices designed to help channel magic, as well as much more.

Finally, for those unfamiliar with the exact location of Devrezanekya due to their own geographical distance. This letter will contain a map as well as a description of where our country can be located. Devrezanekya lies in the centre of the Great Continent, nestled between two seas. It’s capital is located on a straight between the two seas in question. For nations not on the Great Continent, sailing up the Zanifar Bay should quickly lead to Devrezanekyan Territory.

- İkbal Demirhan Paşa, Devrezankyan Minister of Foreign Affairs

Different copies of said invite were then distributed to Devrezanekyan naval vessels, tasked with the mission to deliver an invite to as many countries as possible. This was the first major peaceful event of Kasim’s reign, and he had to have it be as grand as possible. As the ships left to deliver the invites, Kasim was approached by his Grand Vizier and long -time friend, Afrim Gümüşhan.

Afrim: "My padişah, will you allow me a moment of your time."

Kasim: "Of course, Afrim, though you needn’t speak with me so formally."

Afrim: "It would be disrespectful to address you with anything less than your title."

Kasim: he sighs "Well, what is that you wished to discuss?"

Afrim: "Forgive my boldness, but I believe that a festival such as this brings incalculable and unnecessary levels of risk to your well-being."

Kasim: "How so? Hosting a diplomatic event such as this is not necessarily more risky than attending council with the Imperial Court. We have many guard who could protect me in the event that an attempt is made on my life. Not to mention the fact that I can hold my own in combat. Have you forgotten our time as comrades in arms, Afrim? My skill with the sword is still as sharp as ever."

Afrim: "No Kasim, I haven’t. I’m sure your martial skills are still as sharp as they were during the Great Zafarid War. Still, I think this event to be unnecessarily risky. Not to mention that showing off our naval technology to nations such as Naviatio could be detrimental to our own security."

Kasim: "I hear your concerns, friend, and I understand that they come out of both logic and concern. However, times have changed. I believe that if we as nations cooperate, we can move past the years of senseless war. My father clashed with the Zafarid Empire due to false allegations and mistrust. Though we may have won land from them, countless people died on both sides. You and I both witnessed first hand that there is no victor in all out war. We cannot afford to have a similar war with Naviatio. Paranoia and unnecessary levels of caution will only lead our country to isolate itself, rather than reaching its full potential as an Empire built on trade. I am not cancelling the festival, though I will heed your words to an extent. I will stay vigilant and keep guards with me at all times. Would that ease your concerns, my friend?"

Afrim: "I see you have made your decision, my Padişah. All I ask is that you remain safe."

Ahmet Reis thought for a moment before replying. He could either get to the King which would most likely take quite a bit of time without help. Or he could try to see if he could meet with who ever governs the island of Gegu. Then he would either be able to negotiate up front with said leader, or gain an easier route to the King of Gorugyo. He then said:

Ahmet Reis: "I am glad to be met with such a warm welcome. Since, you say we are in a distant province which as a citizen of a large Empire myself I can completely understand, could I perhaps arrange an audience with the governor of Gegu? Ahmet stood there for a moment and thought. Finally he said:

"Well, lucky for both of us we did have a healer on board. She’s a Misaryan vision holder by the name of Aminah Qadir (she/they). They have a Dendro vision and excel at channeling their magic to heal people. The only thing is that we might have one tiny problem… I do not at this moment know where Aminah is. The Incident, Part 1

Devrezanekya, İlisya, Evrenmarı

Recently, tension between the Empire of Devrezanekya and its northerly rival and neighbour, Naviatio, have been increasing. Accusation of piracy and violation of sea borders have been levied by both sides. The most recent incident within this long-standing diplomatic conflict is one where a Naviatian Navy patrol was overwhelmed and raided by a fleet of Devrezanekyan pirates. After taking gold and weapons, the pirates quickly fled and docked at the port city of Evrenmarı (AL: Evrenmarë). The Naviatian Patrol soon arrived and demanded that the Devrezanekyan Government hand over the fugitives. The Devrezanekyan government argued that Navatio was breaking their agreement by bringing military ships into Devrezanekyan waters and that the pirates were now Devrezanekya’s problem and not something Navatio could legally pursue, the Naviatians in turn accused the Devrezaneks of colluding with the pirates with a systematic plan of robbing Navatian military vessels and then fleeing safely into Devrezanekyan ports. The debate between the two leaders got so heated that cannons were nearly fired from each side. Finally with the help of mediators and the request of Padişah Kasim, Devrezanekya agreed to hold a meeting in Konstantiniyye to discuss the incident.

Devrezanekya, Capital District, Konstantiniyye

The meeting was to take place in a government office on the west side of Konstantiniyye. Padişah Kasim Altınhan (The Emperor), Gümüşhan Paşa (Minister of Imperial Affairs and Grand Vizier), Demirhan Paşa (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Safirhan Paşa (Minister of Naval Affairs), and a few minor diplomats would be attending the meeting. Kasim decided to allow the Naviatians to state their case and argument first.

Devrezanekya, Capital District, Konstantiniyye

The Sublime Empire of Devrezanekya recently received a complaint from the Sultanate of -mameluke demanding that Devrezanekya take responsibility for the actions of one of its citizens. A Devrezanekyan nobleman by the name Hikmet Effendi (he/him) was the citizen in question. Apparently he scratched down his name, titles and all, onto an ancient monument of Mameluke. This was a grievous crime within the country. Currently the Mameluke Sultanate is holding Hikmet in custody for his actions and awaits a response from the Sublime Porte.

Afrim: "My Padişah, are you familiar with the current controversy with the Mameluke Sultanate? They demand a response from you."

Kasim: "Kasim will do just fine, Afrim. We were friends in the army so you needn’t refer to me with such formality even though I am Emperor now. As for your question, yes I have heard of the situation. A noble of ours broke a specific and well respected law of theirs, correct?"

Afrim: "Indeed, Hikmet Effendi wrote his name, no a poem to his glory, on an ancient monument of a kingdom prior to the Mameluke Sultanate."

Kasim: "Ah graffiti. Perhaps I should start to send government officials with whenever a noble goes travelling to avoid diplomatic controversies of this sort."

Afrim smiles.

Afrim: "One more thing, Kasim. The Sultan of Mameluke and his entourage have come to meet with you. They likely should be arriving at the docks of Konstantiniyye in only a few hours."

Kasim: "That is good to hear. Hopefully at said meeting we can clear up any and all misunderstandings. I will bring a few of the Kraliyet Mücevheri and would like you to attend as well, Afrim, since you are the Grand Vizier and Imperial Minister."

Afrim: I will come if that is your wish, My Padişah— er Kasim.

The Irresponsible Tourist, Part 2

Eltyrian Sea, The Sultan's Ship

In the calm, sunny sky of the Eltyrian Sea, there can be seen a small fleet of both civilian and military ship sailing across the water, breaking the blue waves as they go. On the center fleet of ship there can be seen quite a luxurious ship owned personally by the Sultan himself, while he was not fond of luxury or the sea for that matter, he must suck hold on to his displeasure for the sake of peace and his nation. As the Sultan went out of his room, he was greeted by his butler waiting bowing to him.

Sultan Al-Hakim: Good Morning there Akram

Akram: To you as well my Sultan, Breakfast is ready for you in the dining room my Sultan

Hakim: I shall eat at a later time, I have other matters to attend for at the moment unfortunately Akram, but thank you Akram, perhaps you can give the food to some of the lads working? they have been working pretty hard I have noticed.

Akram: My apologies my Sultan, but the advisors request your presence immediately to the Dining room, there are matters they wish to discuss My Sultan

Hakim: I suppose work never ends eh, alright I shall go there, also, how lingg until we arrive in Konstaniyye?

Akram: we should arrive sometime today my Sultan

Hakim: Perfect, well, I suppose let's get going shall we, don't want to keep them waiting now shall we

And with that, the both of them walk their way to the dining room, with the Sultan occasionally talking with the sailors and maids and asking them about how they are and stuff such as that before the both of them arrive at the dining room where they are greeted with a room full of food and with the advisors already seated in their respective seats. Spotting the Sultan the advisors immediately stand up and bowed as usual with the Sultan returning the gesture and taking his seat at the end of the table. As the Sultan and his advisors chow down on the meal they begun discussion regarding what they shall demand, all the possible answers and such topics. Hours passed since the meal had been finished and the Sultan and his advisors are still discussing when suddenly the door was knocked, letting them in, a maid is standing in front of the door

"My Lords, sorry to bother but I am here to announce that we are about to arrive in Konstantiniyye"

The Irresponsible Tourist, Part 3

Devrezanekya, Capital District, Konstantiniyye

The ship of the Sultan of Mameluke arrived and docked at the ports of Konstantiniyye. Many citizens looked in awe at the great ship, while others were uninterested as they were used to the wealth and prestige common among Padişah Kasim’s visitors. The minister of foreign affairs, İkbal Demirhan (he/him), along with an envoy of guards and diplomats were there to meet with Sultan Al-Hakim and those who accompanied him.

İkbal Demirhan Paşa: "Welcome to the Capital of Devrezanekya, your Majesty. It is a pleasure to have your in our esteemed empire, despite the circumstances being less than idealPlease allow me to lead you to the palace, where we will be conducting our meeting."

With that, İkbal led the Sultan and his diplomats through the streets of Konstantiniyye to the Imperial Palace. He made sure to lead them down the most well maintained streets as to project the most positive image of Devrezanekya to the foreign ruler. He even led them through a short section of the Grand Bazaar, the biggest market in all of Devrezanekya— some even argue that it is the biggest in the world. Konstantiniyye gave a sense of luxury and prestige, that was only possible for a city with such large population density that also had high historical and political significance. Konstantiniyye had in fact been the capital of the Elysian Empire before Devrezanekya conquered it. Finally, the Sultan and his envoys arrived at the Palace. İkbal led them to a large meeting hall that had banners and weapons hanging from the wall and a large table in the center. Sultan Kasim Altınhan of Devrezanekya(he/him), as well as Afrim Gümüşhan Paşa (he/they) (Grand Vizier), Ercan Çelikhan Paşa (he/him) (Minister of Military Affairs), Aysu Safirhan Paşa (she/they) (Minister of Naval Affairs), as well as numerous other Devrezanekyan officials of less significance were attending the meeting. There was a long pause for a moment after all the Mameluke diplomats had chosen seats. Padişah Kasim finally broke the silence:

Padişah Kasim Altınhan of Devrezanekya: "Thank your for coming all the way to Konstantiniyye to attend this meeting, Sultan Al-Hakim. Devrezanekya is dedicated to finding a solution to this issue that we can mutually agree on as quickly as possible. That being said, since your nation is the one with the complaint towards ours, I will give you and your envoys the first turn to speak."

Hon thought.Very carefully and weighted he thought,I shall say…on the first hand the foreigners have possible cure…on the other..what if the shipwrecked healer is truly dead?It will be hard to predict what will happen next
So…Hon decided to help the search and made a mark for himself to visit the local scholar after the searches, because he,Hon,had some interesting conception…
-I and some of the fishermen can accompany you and help to explore the shore..-

Off-Course, Part 7: The search begins

Ahmet smiled and said:

"Perfect, let’s start searching for them then."

Both Ahmet and his crew as well as Hon and his diplomats searched for Aminah along the beaches of Gegu Island. Though it took what seemed like ages, Ahmet eventually found her unconscious on the beach barely even out of the water. Aminah was then brought back to the port town and everyone waited until she woke up. When they finally woke up, Aminah coughed up sea water that they had unintentionally inhaled after falling unconscious at sea. Aminah looked at Ahmet and the other familiar faces as well as the Goguryan officials.

Aminah: "Captain, where are we? There was that storm what happened to our ship? Who are these new people and where is the rest of the crew?"

Ahmet Reis: "Aminah, we are on the Gegu Island of Goguryo. These are Hon Kil Toh and his subordinates who were kind enough to shelter us after our ship was destroyed. As for the other crew members, I don’t know where they are. However, it is highly likely that many died or were pushed in other directions by the tide."

Amina nodded although she looked a bit sad.

Ahmet Reis: "Aminah, the Goguryan’s need our help to save their governor’s life. I know that your specific skill with the Dendro Vision granted to you by the Archons allows you to heal both injury and illness. They are most definitely in need of this ability, as the governor is currently in a dire state."

Aminah: "Say no more, my friend. I am more than happy to help heal the governor."

She then turns to Hon Kil Toh and says:

"My lord, could you please lead us to your governor so that I may do my best to heal him?"

Off-Course,Part 8 Emergency Treatment
Hon smiled and so began his little sarcastic rant
-Dear healer,I’m not a high ranking official.I’m just a junior clerk in administration of this port.Because some number of high officials that were employed by previous governor and managed to stay abandoned their duties, installed tents and began feasting in front of governor house under their loyal guard avaiting our governor to “die already” so they could divide power between themselves, there were nobody to meet you properly,sorrily-
When the little rant was concluded Hon did not smiled. His young and charming face was ridden by anger.
Nevertheless he managed to hold down his emotions and lead the party to the governor house through the city.
Because of reasons explained by Hon in his rant the party entered through the backyard
Hon then led the party to a ventilated room, where the ill governor was located, availing death.
Unhealthily slim, pale and previously beautiful and able-bodied man, with cold towel wrapped aroun his head..and with a strange glowing scar resembling goruyougan hieroglyph
Death

Off-Course, Part 9: Healing the Governor

Aminah approached the governor with the intention to at least attempt healing the governor from the strange ailment he was suffering. Aminah was unsure whether healing magic could even save him, he seemed to be in critical condition. Aminah then activated her vision and green dendro energy swirled around her. They then spoke in their native language:

Aminah:

"دع قوتي في دندرو تشفي هذا الرجل المحتضر."

(Translation: "May my power in Dendro heal this dying man.”)

Aminah channeled a green orb of Dendro energy and concentrated on preserving the desire to heal they imparted into it. Aminah moved the orb of power into the governor’s chest where it simply faded into his body. Aminah continued to channel healing power into the man with the hopes of healing his condition or at least improving his physical condition. While the healing was going on, Ahmet Reis pulled Hon Kil Toh aside to discuss the entourage of high officials camped outside the governor’s house.

Ahmet Reis: "My friend, I’d like to discuss the matter of these disloyal officials. I have been thinking and I believe we should do something about them. Whether through force or diplomatic means, I am of the strong belief that they must be taught a lesson. Since you are a Goguryan offical as well, I look to you to help me find the best method to use against the traitors."

Off-Course 10:It’s a Miracle…
Surprisingly, the illness and pain from the curse began to fall back from exposure to the dendritic magic..but the vile force was concentrated around the Hiyerogyph..
It is the centre of the illness and it needs to be removed, but how…
Fever had faded away and the governor awaked..
-W-who are you?Why the pain faded away…-
Meanwhile Hon answered to the Reid with a great sorrow
-What could we do anyway..words are not working on them…but we can’t use force either..They are still protected by the law and their immense power..one of them eventually tried to..assault me..a disgusting old man-Finance Director Gun Xixi-he is the main figure in the traitorous posse…he is though veary feared of spirits and ghosts..we may use that, but how..-
