Is the CCP slowly assimilating/removing Tibetan culture? Yes, it is. It violently puts down any resistance. But will China give up Tibet? Heck, no.

Physical reasons why China wants to hold on to Tibet: The large rivers that made the Han civilization thrive and still continue to be China's lifeline originate in Tibet.

Geopolitical reasons: Economic corridor with Pakistan, rival of their rival India. Not to mention that an independent Tibet (like Bhutan IRL) would be friendly to India rather than China.

But will an independent Tibet (which would be an another landlocked least-developed country) ruled by a theocrat be any better than Chinese-occupied Tibet? That is the question. Nepal and Bhutan both depend on their bigger neighbors (and third parties) for almost everything that the bigger question is: what is the point of saying you are an independent nation when your constitution has to be approved by New Delhi or Beijing? Are you really independent when your bigger neighbor can just blockade you (and the entire world is like: "what blockade?")? When your leaders are removed if the big brothers don't like them?

Would it not be better to be a province of theirs instead and not worry about debts, the trade deficits and all other problems and you know, no longer being a least developed sh!thole?

And the less said about Kashmir the better. The entire region was screwed from beginning.

You never really think of Chile as big but it is actually very big.

Couldn't be further from the truth. I don't have access to a gun.

In all honesty, I liked the movie. Went with my dad, with no expectations, and we both decided it was a pretty good movie. Especially for DC. Joaquin Phoenix was really, really good

Ironically enough, I went with a girl (no, it wasn't me mum or any relative of mine) to see it at the weekend.
Personally I felt the ending was a bit rushed, but other than that it was really good.
