If anyone wants to serve within the Oracles Guild please either reply to this post or send me a telegram. We need to get guilds functioning again if we're gonna start rebuilding the activity that this region has lost. There is plenty to do within the Guild so I look forward to anyone who wishes to help within the guild!

If anyone has any interest in taking one of the open Guilde Chaires, please express your interest either here or by telegram to me.

I'll offer myself as an oracle.

Of course we would welcome you into the guild as an Oracle. The only question I have for you is what branch you would like to be Oracle for? Culture, law or history?

Thinking about it I would also offer myself as an oracle. I could see myself doing the history part so long as people could aid me in the history of this place. I haven't kept tabs on it as I mostly just get on to see if anything of note has happened. That is of course if the said job is still open. If it isn't I would be open to whatever you feel is best.

I feel like I should be doing much more than answering things for my nation and voting on polls that show up from time to time.

I’d be happy to have you as Oracle for history! Probably one of the first things that’ll need to be done in that regard is help update the history of the guild as it’s rather lacking in that department.

I can understand that given what has happened the past few weeks. How much of that would need to be updated? Once I know what needs updating I could start work and likely have it ready in a few days.

If you've noticed our changes made to the Eye recently, culture is no longer an aspect over which the Oracles have control. The guardians guild was renamed the Cultural guild with the Chief Curator at its head. This also encompasses history..Thus the term curator. Much like a supreme court, the Oracles will handle from now on.

Brilliant I’ll think of something. Probably have a law oracle and a constitutional oracle along with one that encompasses both law and constitution. I’ll keep the guild history which still needs to be updated but leave any regional history out.

Decided to go for an Oracle for the Eye, our laws and of course the Axioms.

Zyris, Orbisburg which role would each of you prefer?

It warms the cockles of my heart to see RMB activity.

Insofar as the Oracles' roles are concerned, the primary role is to interpret all subsequent laws and legal disputes through the lens of the constitution, to judge whether it is constitutional and thus legally binding. This judgement would be made regarding a case of dispute brought before the Oracles by a plaintiff.

Yes I’m just putting more structure within the guild and giving each nation a specific branch to look after so when the time for a review arrives everyone can pool their specialist knowledge and work towards a solution. That’s how I see it anyway

Hmm, will if that are the choices I guess I could do so for the laws. I'll have to reread them to fully understand what is lawful and unlawful but I should be able to get a good idea in a few days. Really I'm just trying to do more than just answering things for my nation and mostly sitting around. As I said I would be happy to update the history but with the last few posts I'm a bit lost on if we even do that anymore.

It would be great if somebody could finish the Abydos Antiquities...

The History of Abydos

This was posted by Qon and edited by Siannytar

The Gateway

The Abydos Gateway is one of the oldest cultural institutions of Abydos, having been initially commissioned in April 2018 under the leadership of Grand Luxarch Zyris. It was then known as the Grand Abydos Library but later changed its name to the Abydos Gateway in December 2018 under Grand Luxarch Ancient Greek Kingdoms. Today the Abydos Gateway stands as the most helpful resource for all citizens of Abydos. It was then later thoroughly reviewed and edited by Wanasnaswa in 2019, bringing a new style to the Gateway.

Abydos Antiquities

One of the promises we make as a region is that here in Abydos you can have a legacy, one in which can be remembered for all time. We accomplish this by simply recording our history as factually true as possible. Many nations have called this place home, and many more will continue in the future. For us, here today, we have these Abydos Antiquities, a collection of writings which records the past events of the place we call home.

The Abydos Antiquities spans nearly two decades of regional history, from the dawn of 2003 to the end of the term of Grand Luxarch Qon, our fifth. Unfortunately, Zarvarza, once the player behind Zyris and the writer of the Abydos Antiquities has left Abydos and therefor, the Antiquities is unfinished.

Book I: The Prehistoric Eras

When we chronicle the extensive annals and history of the region of Abydos, we do so through the usage of various terminologies which help us to understand and classify this subject. Our mammoth history record is vast and nearly as old as NationStates itself, with 2003 being the year of the first known proof of existence. With this gratifying fact, we also find ourselves unfortunate in that so much of the ancient records have been lost to the unforgiving sands and harsh climates of this place, this game, and the various circumstances its occupants experienced. It is, therefore, our duty as modern Abydos citizens to spend considerable time and treasure into delving into our antiquities. Furthermore, we owe it to our posterity to record and document what we can of our time so as to not only educate the future of this region we call home but to fill a void in the very essence each citizen of Abydos has for discovering things unknown.

We have come to recognize such periods for their distinct shreds of information, or likely more accurately, the lack of information available. The most distinct point of reference when classifying the history of Abydos is to separate what is known by us, the writers of this history, and by what is unknown. We have come to use the founding of Abydos by the nation of Zyris on March 26, 2018, as this distinct point. All history prior to this founding is considered prehistory, or history which very little is known. All history after the Zyris founding of the region is known as modern history. These two distinctions should be identified and recognized by all for a full understanding of the history of Abydos, a region that extends as far back as 2003.

In modern Abydos, we refer to any resident from prior to the founding of the region to be an Ancient, or person who existed in Abydos before the founding by Zyris in 2018. While this term, Ancient, is used to classify anyone from that time period, known or unknown, Abydos has had in its midst two Ancient nations living in the modern era. The nation of Zyris, using the puppet nation Trinosophia, had founded Abydos in 2017, and therefore classifies as an Ancient. The nation of Yaqobia resided in Abydos from January 2012 until September 2014, nearly 3 years.

Abydos is fortunate to have its long history. Yet, unfortunately, no accounts of the history were ever recorded or found during the pre-historic eras, only accounts written by Zyris and Yaqobia of their time during these ancient times. While little information is known of Abydos during all those mysterious years, what little information there is has to be interpreted correctly, and interpreted to reflect a realistic view of the region as it existed at the time. There are three distinct eras of this prehistoric age. Each of these eras is defined by what we, the interpreters of history view as distinct features or happenings of these unknown times. The following is a listing and the approximate time frame upon which these eras existed for Abydos.

Era of Bones - May 2003 - December 2009
Era of Long-Dwellers - December 2009 - January 2017
Era of Transition - January 2017 - March 2018

To rightfully begin the history or any history, we shall explore these three eras and what is known about them and what makes them distinct periods for classifying Abydos history. With so little information present on these time periods, these three eras make up the vast unknown bulk of Abydos history, yet pale in comparison to the modern Abydos history, where history was well recorded and a passion for it thrived within the citizens ofAbydos. In this respect, we are blessed to be living in this modern era.

The Founderless Days

The first prehistoric era of the region of Abydos is known as the Era of Bones. This title was chosen by Zyris, who compiled this history because the region of Abydos would die off and be refounded several times.

In the early NationStates game, we know that the very concept of a regional founder did not exist. It is natural to assume that whoever the first founder was for Abydos came after this gameplay feature was added. The earliest records, based on the Texas Dossier, indicate that the oldest known World Assembly Delegate for the region of Abydos was a nation by the name of Usire from about May 28, 2003, to June 3rd, 2003. It is believed that Abydos was first discovered and founded and refounded under several different founding nations until 2004. The ancient nations who founded and led the region have all been lost to time.

The Vanquished Mystery

Early bones and pottery indicate that around September 2004,Abydos reached a record 10 nations in population. From this shard of information, we can deduce that either the founder or delegate wanted Abydos to grow into a great region, or that the region itself was used as puppet storage. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine what the cause of this spike in population was, but we can know that whoever caused it, did so with some purpose in mind. Nothing is known about this tribe from our region's antiquity; however, it lasted until about April 2005 when suddenly, within a week, this group of nations disappeared from the region.

No account or record exists to explain precisely why the entire population of Abydos disappeared, but the likely conclusions are either a griefing raid by enemy forces, which before the introduction of gameplay influence statistics in 2007 was a common happenstance. Griefing was, by 2005, rules, considered the act of raiding a region and kicking all the natives out of the region with the hopes of refounding the region before the founder discovered the act. Other possible reasons for this disappearance of ten nations from Abydos could be caused if all ten nations belonged to one player, and they all died due to that player quitting the game. It is also entirely possible that the nations decided to on to another region in a merger.

The Great Major Death

The Great Major Death is an extended period of time in which the region of Abydos simply did not exist. By this, we interpret this to mean that no nation resided in Abydos and any nation at any time could have founded Abydos for themselves. Archaeological records and documentation from the Texas Dossier indicate that the last inhabitants of Abydos died out sometime in 2006. From that point onward, Abydos was abandoned until November 2009 when it was rediscovered.

While Abydos has experienced numerous deaths and refounding, the Great Major Death remains the longest period in which Abydos did not exist by far. This event, or rather lack thereof, is a permanent reminder of the great void we face should our attention be turned away from the region we call home.

As we continue our examination into our prehistory, we come to a distinct change, which we now call the Era of the Long-Dwellers. Unlike the Era of Bones, in which only statistical data exists, we have first-hand accounts of some of the happenings in Abydos during these times.

This era is so named because each of the three founders during this era ruled over the region for a year or longer, unlike the previous era where founders and abrupt deaths of the region were a common and frequent occurrence. One of the more fascinating bits of information is that we can begin to personify some of the happenings in the region at those times. With more light being cast into the dark recess of the ancient history of Abydos, we as archaeologists can begin to make more accurate interpretations of our history and meaning.

The Rule of Assuwa

The nation of Assuwa ended The Great Major Death in Abydos and became the first founder under the Era of the Long-Dwellers around the date of November 28, 2009. Assuwa held onto the region as the founder for nearly two straight years before Abydos died out again around the date of September 18, 2011. During the rule of Assuwa, Abydos never rose above two nations in population. We, as historians, can conclude that this could be caused by a lack of recruitment on the part of the founder. A lack of recruitment may mean several different things for a region, and likely Abydos fell into one of these scenarios. Assuwa could likely have been an independent nation who played alone and enjoyed the game for two years. It is equally possible that Abydos was a holding for another region with imperialistic claims. With only two nations in the region for this length of time, it can be reasonably concluded that both nations belonged to Assuwa.

After the ending of the rule of Assuwa, Abydos would remain dead for four months in a time known as the Great Minor Death. Abydos would be founded after this period of death around January 21, 2012, continuing the Era of The Long-Dwellers.

The Rule of Yaqobia

The second founding of Abydos during this era was the nation of Yaqobia. As of the modern era under the founder Zyris, Yaqobia is the oldest ancient nation from Abydos to survive into modern times. The region under his rule had a population at its height of eight nations, all refugees from the recently founderless and invaded region of Egypt. Abydos had a short-lived World Assembly delegate named Ra-harakhte, which was the first nation owned by Yaqobia himself.

"I really think it's part of the spirit of Abydos to have a fresh start on NS."
~ Yaqobia, April 23, 2018

When the nation of Yaqobia returned to Abydos from the region of Egypt during the Modern Era in 2018, his first introduction was to announce his former role as founder of Abydos back in 2012: I was your founder ~6 years ago, and I'm curious to see the rise of Abydos as a new region. Being the oldest ancient, Yaqobia rose to be appointed the first Abydos Oracle under the modern founder Zyris. From there, he offered more priceless insight into the history of Abydos during his rule.

When Egypt founder popped in 2012, because everyone with the password had stopped playing, it put Egypt into a dire situation. We were very quickly discovered to be founderless and invaded by a group of invaders (I can't recall whom, but I could probably dig around and find out). With the help of a group of defenders, we were able to repel the invaders and retake Egypt, but we were still vulnerable and founderless.
Using my puppet Yaqobia, I founded Abydos in January 2012 as a refuge for Egyptian nations as we worked on rebounding the region.
I created The Egyptian Council to be the new founder, to be what Egypt founder was supposed to be, a joint nation controlled by a "senior council" of long-term members.

The nations of Egypt went to Abydos for safety, and I stayed behind to refound the region. Once everyone had gone to Abydos, I too left to Abydos, leaving Egypt with no nations and ending its "5th Dynasty". I quickly refunded Egypt with The Egyptian Council and stayed as the delegate of Abydos briefly to oversee the migration back to Egypt, moving to Egypt 3 days after its refounding.

I don't recall how long I maintained Yaqobia or how long the region existed after I founded it. I seem to remember that some nations never moved back to Egypt.

So there's a little more specific history of that era of Abydos. It was founded as a refuge for Egypt in our time of crisis and continued for a few years after that as a region in its own right.

Abydos would continue for a couple of years, slowly decreasing in population from eight to five nations before the region abruptly ended and died out around the date of September 20, 2014.

The Rule of 3-

Abydos was founded for the third time during the Era of The Long-Dwellers by the nation 3-. 3- held the region from about October 11, 2014, through January 14, 2017. Under his rule, Abydos never rose in population, and like with the rule of Assuwa several years prior, it is highly likely that the region was simply used as a conquest from a foreign region, or as a small puppet storage region for the nation. Virtually nothing is known about this period in Abydos history as no records have survived into the Modern Era.

In January 2017, the prehistoric chronology of Abydos transitions into the Era of Transition. This era is so named because it transitions from the Long-Dwellers into the Modern Age. What is also unique about this era is that every founder was a puppet nation belonging to the nation Zyris. Abydos was used for a variety of purposes during this time, but never as a region independent and built for itself. As such, historians do not classify this period as the modern era.

Rule of King Tabriz

Abydos was founded by the nation King tabriz on January 28, 2017. King tabriz was the noted founder of the short-lived Sovereign Imperial Realms, a six region kingdom that centred around medieval gameplay. While the Sovereign Imperial Realms was in a state of decline by this time, King tabriz kept a watchful eye of Abydos to refound it should the previous founder, 3-, die off. When this happened King tabriz took the region for himself, but by this time, his Sovereign Imperial Realms was in a downward spiral, and so Abydos never got a chance to be built up as the seventh realm in the kingdom.

The Rule of Trinosophia

On February 25, 2017, less than a month after the King tabriz founding, The nation Trinosophia refounded Abydos and established the Council of Abydos, where former Sovereign Imperial Realms nations gathered to draft the Eye of Providence, their constitution and to consolidate the remains of the Sovereign Imperial Realms into one region. The population reached a historical record of 16 nations, the most in history up until this point. The region had two known delegates, Kiebe and Neo natal. Abydos would continue under the rule of Trinosophia until August 19, 2017.

Abydos would die again due to the Council of Abydos not advancing and the overall vision of the Sovereign Imperial Realms in total ruin. Abydos itself did not evolve its own government, and the people saw themselves as displaced refugees of other regions. Ultimately Abydos was abandoned as the people simply died out or moved to other regions.

The Rule of Zyris

Zyris founded Abydos for the first time on December 30, 2017. This first founding lasted only 18 days and Abydos was abandoned again in January 2018. Abydos was simply used as a holding region for the nation Zyris, with no recruitment done during this short period.

The nation of Zyris would found the region a second time on March 26, 2018, and this time Abydos would be built up in our current Modern Era. Zyris would crown himself Grand Luxarch, successfully launching the most prosperous era in Abydos history.

"Abydos deserves to thrive."
Zyris, March 25, 2018

Book II: The Zyrisian Dynasty

Abydos has undergone a series of changes and evolutions throughout its history. As pre-history is eloquently recorded in detail already, I would like to take the time and share our more modern history.

The measurement of time in Abydos could be broken down in many ways. For this document, it is adequate to measure time by the constitutionally recognized method. Our very own Eye of Abydos spells out how we measure time:

§5.7. Dynasties

We shall consider a dynasty to be the continuous rule of appointed Grand Luxarchs. If a Grand Luxarch appoints their successor, that successor shall retain the Dynastic name and count of the previous Grand Luxarch. A new dynasty for Abydos shall begin whenever a Grand Luxarch has been elected or assumed the office through a coup.

Within this section, a Dynasty maintains itself only when each Grand Luxarch appoints its successor. In all other situations where a natural appointment is not made, either by choice or force, a new Dynasty begins. Modern Abydos with its dynastic rule is a little over a year old, having been founded on March 26, 2018. So far, in our history, we have had two dynasties: the Zyrisian Dynasty, which is often called the First Dynasty, and the Zyrisan Dynasty. Each Dynasty is further divided up into the individual administrative rules of the Grand Luxarchs. Historically, we have referred to this as an Era. We can, therefore, say that Abydos has had five eras under two dynasties.

Grand Luxarch Zyris
March 26, 2018 - August 17, 2018
Duration: 144 Days
Dynasty: Zyrisian

Having founded Abydos, Zyris self-declared into the position of Grand Luxarch. His term was marked by optimism and the belief in organic growth for the region. As such, the Abydos government grew only when there was a need for a position. Early Abydos itself had no constitution or laws, only the Abydos Axioms, 13 axioms by which the region would use to gauge all other activity.

Grand Luxarch Zyris initially established hundreds of embassies with other regions. It was recorded that when Abydos only had 7 nations, it had 78 embassies. Zyris was known to reach out to other regions and players, and in doing so, attracted a former resident from past ages known as Yaqobia, who would later become both a celebrated figure and a controversial one.

Domestically, Zyris made many important contributions to Abydos. He established the positions of Ankh and Ma'at Emperor, created the initial Abydos Library, and enthusiastically hammered out the ideas for government.

Zyris was best known for his elaborate speeches and various poems written about the region. He also encouraged the development of roleplay with Yaqobia and Earth industries llc.

Zyris put much focus on educating embassies regions on how to protect themselves from raids and even went so far as to write a guide for foreign regions to defend themselves. This proactive approach served Abydos Well, but Zyris was also known to be fiercely protective of what he dubbed the status quo. In one instance, with a stand-off between Abydos and the region Truth, Zyris refused to relent to Truths demands to adjust our regional tagging descriptions. Despite standing up to foreign pressure, Zyris chose to compromise with then Ma'at Emperor Amenhotep over the tagging dispute. The exchange, while mostly trivial, established an early precedent of standing united against foreign opposition while being adaptable domestically.

Zyris was an exciting figure and hosted several events here at home. His encouragement of the development of roleplay leads to an early roleplay game imagining Abydos as a capital city and nations as gangs which can claim the throne through roleplaying events. Zyris also launched the short-lived Abydos Jukebox, where nations could submit their favourite songs for all to participate in.

With a new Map developed by Yaqobia, Abydos was shaping up to be a strong roleplay region. This dream of Zyris would ultimately prove a struggle, along with one new dream, developing a constitution for Abydos. By August 2018, Abydos had already slowed to a snail's pace activity, and Zyris did what he could to revamp activity and pass the torch to a new leader.

Grand Luxarch Hydoria
August 17, 2018 - November 4, 2018
Duration: 79 Days
Dynasty: Zyrisian

Grand Luxarch Hydoria was our second leader and one of the most action-oriented. He thrived on developing entirely constructed nations with careful attention to statistics and descriptions. He was chosen by Zyris to succeed him for his roleplay abilities.

The Era of Hydoria was definately a unique time for Abydos. The region experienced a host of foreign summits, and the region was beginning to develop into a thriving personality all unto itself. With the region reeling from the recent NS Event, the Zombie Apocalypse, and a new satirical newspaper called The Oracles Overture, Abydos was beginning to take shape. Many rising stars, famous, and notorious nations in Abydos would find their voice during this time. Nations such as Seven comets, Svr2200, Requiemis, Peoples republic of rhetso, Murgenistan, Zartavaria Christian confederation, New dombro, Ancient Greek Kingdoms, and Edenea would emerge.

With Abydos struggling to develop its roleplay, the pro-government of Abydos would elect for itself a President. Requiemis would become the region's first and only President, serving two terms before the position was transformed into the High Priest position. Hydoria spent a great deal of time working with Ancient Greek Kingdoms in roleplay development. He also launched a short-lived Cartography team to develop a new regional map.

Zyris was appointed Oracle by Hydoria, and accepted by High Oracle Yaqobia into the guild. Hydoria also established a voting policy in which votes were tallied, and puppet use was banned. This would later be used in the Eye of Abydos.

Hydoria would soon grow quiet in activity around the time of the reelection of Requiemis as President. With this notable vacuum of power created, Abydos would again sow the seeds of transformation and change.

Zyris would begin work on a regional constitution with help from Zartavaria. Murgenistan would be elected as Scribe, and Requiemis would ascend as Ankh Emperor and chose Ancient Greek Kingdoms.

Diplomatically, Abydos would begin to move toward The Wolf Clan and The Radient, after calling for the Abydos Summit II by Zarvarza. Many nations showed up, including a heavy presence from former Illuminati members, and the ending result was the creation of the ORB Alliance. The alliance sought to replace all three regions' discords with one master discord channel. It also brought a host of very experienced and advanced players into Abydos and would prove to be the catalyst for change. The Strongmans Rebellion was formed and set to strike on November 5th, to raise the issue of the absence of the Grand Luxarch. This initiative would never happen ultimately as Hydoria would resign peacefully just one day prior.

By November 4th, Hydoria would resign naming celebrated Chief Ambassador turned Elder Statesman Ancient Greek Kingdoms as his successor.

Grand Luxarch Ancient Greek Kingdoms
November 4, 2018 - February 11, 2019
Duration: 99 Days
Dynasty: Zyrisian

The sudden appointment of Ancient Greek Kingdoms as the third Grand Luxarch was an instant surprise and sigh of relief for Abydos. The region now had a very active leader, and the region would again be transformed with a new personality at the helm and new ideas springing to life. The Era of Ancient Greek Kingdoms has been regarded as both the Golden Age of Abydos and as one of it's most controversial.

High Oracle Yaqobia Invited Hydoria to serve as Oracle alongside Zyris. Effectively transforming the institution into one that houses former Grand Luxarchs. Ancient Greek Kingdoms would go on to appoint Aremania as an appointed Scribe, one of his first acts. Alpha wolf would sign off on the official launch of ORB with The Radiant, and Ancient Greek Kingdoms would deliver his inaugural speech, highlighting the need for both roleplay and an official functioning government. He would later go on to appoint Zartavaria as Scribe, officially launching his career. This would make him, and three other nations Scribes: Murgenistan, The Realm of Sehkmet, and Aremania.

December 10th marked the final day that a nation could declare their candidacy for the March 10th High Priest Elections. There were three candidates for this position, Zartavaria, Aremania, and The Wolf Clan nation, Orodruin. The election and its buildup would prove to be some of the most dynamic periods in Abydos. The Eye of Abydos was ratified, giving the region an official constitution. This would transform our regional government from one that was acting unofficially and organically, a president started by Grand Luxarch Zyris, to an official one with laws and protocol. The constitution also created Guilds, designed to monopolize and organize various sectors of NS game and role play. The Conclave would move to ratify the Eye if Abydos and Grand Luxarch Ancient Greek Kingdoms would commission and sign off on it. In preparation, the Citizens Guild had opened a few days before making everyone official citizens of Abydos. The Eye of Abydos was ratified on December 14, 2018, with Ancient Greek Kingdoms stating: As the Grand Luxarch of Abydos I hereby announce that the Eye of Abydos will now be the supreme law of Abydos. On that same day, Zartavaria would launch the Sacred Eye Party in response to the already Emerging Grand Luxarchs Party. He would also create the platform at which all Abydos legislation is recorded, the Corpus Juris Abydi.

It would be at this time that v reached its zenith up until that point. Zyris described it as the gestation period of the region, and Abydos had finally given birth to a new government after nine months. Indeed, Abydos had its constitution, its political parties, a nearly full and functioning government and an active and strong citizenry. The time of organic growth had ended and made way for an Era of intense partisan dynamics for v.

There were numerous catalysts for what came next, but he would eventually face its biggest crisis yet.

Scribe Zartavaria introduced new laws to the Conclave, which were ratified standardizing the political parties and citizenry. This allowed for an even playing field and near carte blanche to the political parties emerging. Zartavaria and Ancient Greek Kingdoms would go on to gain as many members to their party as possible. While there was a third Political Party, operated by Muegenistan, it did not seek active growth, and thus Abydos became divided into partisan lines.

Zartavaria would move on to become the High Priest in a very close election with numerous behind the scenes dealings and vote influences while Ancient Greek Kingdoms and Antideluvian empyrea would create a private discord channel for their party to operate me secretly.

High Oracle Yaqobia would join the Grand Luxarchs Party, ending the Oracle's previous non-partisan stance, and In doing so, set what is today known as the Yaqobian President. In return, Zyris would join the Sacred Eye Party, splitting the Oracles Guild politically.

Initially, Antideluvian empyrea opposed the promotion of one's political party. However, he succumbed to the reality at the time and joined the Grand Luxarchs Party. Scribe Elections would prove to be some of the most dynamic in our history, as the parties duelled it out in the voting booth. Block voting and the discovery of the Grand Luxarch Party Discord by an infiltration attempt lead to severe distrust between the parties.

After these elections, the region focused on domestic affairs as partisan tensions waned. The Conclave would move to ratify a series of criminal justice reforms, drafted and signed by Zartavaria. Tristes tropiques would be appointed Oracle in the Oracles Guild, and Yaqobia would step down as Oracle, naming Zyris as High Oracle.

The Conclave worked to ratify a regional Bill of Rights, which would stand alongside the Eye of Abydos. Oracle Tristes tropiques would launch a new publication on February 2nd called the 'Bydos Brief which promoted the history, education and culture of the region. It was regarded as "The best god-damned thing ever written" by Zyris. The Conclave would also ratify voting reform, and the Grand Luxarch would resign his party amid criticism of hyper-partisanism. Longtime citizen and former President Requiemis would leave Abydos after the loss of an election for Scribe. Ironically, this first week in February would be the calm before the storm as partisan bickering would lead to an all-out constitutional crisis.

As the Conclave was debating the language in a bill about Absenteeism, A separate debate emerged over organizing the various discussions and moving it to the Discord for ease of use. Tristes tropiques proposed that the Oracles Guild should keep enforcement over the Conclave while Yaqobia shot this suggestion down. Scribe Antideluvian empyrea lashed out at Tristes tropiques for suggesting his ideas were "a joke" and that some members of the Conclave were "automatrons." The issue may have been resolved with the ratification of a proposal called the Abydos Government Communications Act proposed by Scribe Alexeyevskaya, but this bill would never make it vote.

Tristes tropiques then used the Svr2200 Law Review as an argument to defend his position on Oracles enforcement of the law. This was further shot down by The Grand Luxarch and High Priest as well, creating a frightening rift between all branches of government and the Oracles Guild.

When Yaqobia stepped down as High Oracle, he appointed Antideluvian empyrea to become Oracle in his closing statement along with San hieronymi as Apprentice. Recognizing the sudden shift in dynamic, Zyris proposed two new laws to the Conclave that would allow the Oracles Guild to act more internally, and give a hierarchy and meritocracy to the system in protest of the Antideluvian empyrean appointment. These proposals were shot down by the Conclave while High Priest Zartavaria, of the same party as Zyris, also voiced his concerns over the Oracles Appointment.

High Priest Zartavaria correctly stated that the Abydos Conclave had reached an impasse in deciding the course of action, and as The Realm of Sehkmet stated, the chaos demons of Abydos have been unleashed. Feeling like the Oracles Guild was on the cusp of collapse due to the warring personalities of Tristes tropiques and Antideluvian empyrea, Zyris resigned to run for Scribe after Armagstan resigned. His goal was to save the Oracles Guild by re-introducing the proposals to organize and define the Oracles Guild from the outside. In one of his campaign speeches, Zyris spoke about the "extinction" of the Abydosian Party (formerly the Grand Luxarchs Party) and his dissatisfaction with the Antideluvian empyrean appointment and his quest to correct it. The hyper-partisan speech leads to the immediate resignation of Antideluvian empyrea and Ancient Greek Kingdoms, and would eventually lead to the resignation of every member of the Abydosian Party, choosing to move out of Abydos. The mass Exodus of Abydos was in part fueled by a tense impasse, feuding partisan bickering, and questions on the interpretation of the Eye of Abydos. When the relatively normal political "Extinction Speech" came about, Abydos had had enough. Yaqobia had led the charge to found a new region at which they could focus on roleplay, and Abydos was left to sort out a huge mess with half of its government now missing.

None the less, the First Dynasty had come to a close and Abydos was left for the first time without a Grand Luxarch.

Murgenistan attempted a Self Proclamation for Grand Luxarch under the law, with Oracles Apprentice San hieronymi recognizing the decision. Zyris requested six hours from everyone to give a speech to sort out the recent resignations and declared that he would respect the sole remaining Oracle, Tristes tropiques decision in the matter of who is to be Grand Luxarch. He eventually ruled that the Murgenistan self-declaration was "without force" as it was clear that some nations resigned because they said so, but unclear of other nations who did not announce it before departing the region. As such, despite various absences in the Conclave, Abydos did technically still have a functioning legislature to launch a Grand Conclave even if some members were absent. Zyris upheld this decision and Murgenistan resigned and moved out of Abydos in protest.

Oracle Tristes tropiques then announced that several members of the Conclave have officially given their resignations and because of this, Abydos was legally required to launch into a General Election to decide the next Grand Luxarch. He also suspended new citizenship applications in an illegal declaration. Yet Zyris countered that no citizen is capable of running for Grand Luxarch in an election because no citizen had yet met the four-month requirement. Tristes tropiques suggested a listing of eligible citizens through a "Citizen Duration Test," but this was shot down by Zyris as no such test exists for Abydos.

With now the Oracles Guild and the founder reaching an Impasse as to how to proceed, Zyris made the tough decision to overrule Tristes tropiques his citizenship test proposal and ordered that any nation could now Self Proclaim to be the next Grand Luxarch. The move was highly controversial but was justified by the law, which states that the Founder should maintain harmony and order. Oracles Apprentice San hieronymi resigned, and Oracle Tristes tropiques was removed for "mishandling" and "prolonging" the crisis.

Book III: The Zartavarian Dynasty

Grand Luxarch Zartavaria
February 16, 2019 - May 23, 2019
Duration: 96 Days
Dynasty: Zartavarian

The self-declaration of Zartavaria as Grand Luxarch of Abydos marked the launch of the second Dynasty and the fourth Grand Luxarch in our history. The shift in tone for the region was almost immediate, while Abydos still reeled from its recent resignation Crisis. It also marks the first time in Abydos history that a High Priest successfully made the lateral move into the office of the Grand Luxarch.

Grand Luxarch Zartavaria first move was to re-appoint Zyris to High Oracle in an attempt to restore order. He would also appoint The Karen Satrapy as the region's fourth Ma'at Emperor.

Zartavaria faced initial opposition, along with the rest of Abydos when Saintsempire and South Canada of Exodus returned to cause chaos. South Canada was ejected while Saintsempire allowed staying. Rundown and Zyrisfought them off. With that, Zartavaria focused heavily on revamping the Defense Guild with his appointment of German federal reich as Chief General. And The Karen Satrapy announced a new foreign policy for Abydos along with new rules and regulations for the Defense Guild. Zartavaria had ranks and Insignia made for the defence guild as well.

Zartavaria worked to put the Abydos government back together, which had all but abandoned political parties. He named Robrigado and KlAtenia as appointed Scribes as elected Scribes remained vacant until Saintsempire and Eviena won them.

Eviena would then to on to become our fourth High Priest after a short term by Alexeyevskaya. The Citizenship Concordat would be signed into law, making residency a factor in citizenship validation.

Eviena, after making a power grab to remove Amenhotep from the Ankh Emperors position, then proceeded with Articles of Impeachment for High Priest Alexeyevskaya, who had fallen inactive. Succeeding in this, Eviena became the fourth High Priest of Abydos after Requiemis, Zartavaria, and Alexeyevskaya.

The March Conclave elections were then missed, leaving the elected Scribes vacant, while Zyris called for the people to "arise" after the fallout of what he dubbed the Great Purification.

With activity slowing down despite people coming to Abydos, politics began to grind to a hault with the inactivity of the High Priest and the v Conclave collapsing for a second time. Zartavaria continued his focus on defence and established OSIRIS, the regional intelligence wing of the Defense Guild and a new logo to match.

To grow the population, both Rundown and Zartavaria sent out recruitment telegrams to grow our numbers. This brought Abydos back from the brink of total collapse, saving the region. From there, Zyris launched a new "Topic of the week" and began actively encouraging RMB discussion and usage.

Zartavaria announced his intentions to resign a couple of weeks before he did so once he found a successor. In doing so, Zyris, who was using the nation Qon, would be his choice to continue his rebuilding efforts for Abydos and continue with his work on the Defense Guild.

Grand Luxarch Qon
May 16, 2019 - October 22, 2019
Duration: 159 Days
Dynasty: Zartavarian

Our fifth Grand Luxarch, Qon, arrived in office rather unexpectedly but pushed heavily for a more merit-based approach to government. One of his first acts was to appoint Requiemis to high Oracle, the first nation from Imperia Mundi to return to Abydos since their abandonment in February 2019.

Abydos would re-align itself again with the High Priest Elections, a few days after his appointment. Candidates Illuminatiea and Zartavaria squared off in an election. Zartavaria would go on to win High Priest, while Illuminatiea became an Appointed Scribe.

DROP Act

Having endured several changes in the Defense Guild and numerous Chief Generals, Qon sought to standardize the Defense Guild once and for all with a decree known as the DROP Act. This Decree standardized rankings gave new titles and generally reorganized the Defense Guild while keeping in the spirit of the original Zartavaria plan.

Qon would then go on to appoint German federal reich as Chief General over the Defense Guild.

Fist of Qon Revolution

Abydos struggled initially with activity during these early months of the Qon Era. At one point Scribe Illuminatiea was the sole member of the Conclave. Grand Luxarch Qon began a series of initiatives to boost activity, and High Priest Zartavaria selected Denellin as Scribe. This was also coupled with a new recruitment drive for the region.

Qon seemed determined to revive Abydos to levels of the First Dynasty and his speech Scattered Ashes was his first step. The speech is noteworthy as it represents the crisis that Abydos was facing inactivity. On June 27, 2019, he declared a Regional State of Emergency, the first of it's kind, as the Conclave was below three Scribes and non-functional. This bold act leads to the nation Banshania volunteering for Scribe and was appointed as Scribe, giving the Conclave three Scribes and ending the State of Emergency in just 45 minutes. By July 4th, Illuminatiea grew inactive as an Appointed Scribe and was replaced by Narration. Qon would then Decree the closing of the Defense Guild, the first time in history this has happened.

Grand Luxarchs frustration with Abydos lack of activity grew, stating "I find it utterly embarrassing that Abydos, a region of over 100 nations can't even have a basic government going." By July 19, 2019, the Conclave would again fall below three nations and Qon declared the Second State of Emergency. He used this Emergency to ratify a law banning self appointments, and described Abydos as a "Dystopic Tombstone". From there, he officially Declared Qon Revolution, promising to overhaul Abydos.

His first act was to Abolish the position of Ma'at Emperor through a Writ of Revision. The Ma'at Emperors' role would be absorbed into the position of Chief General of the Defense Guild.

He then removed outright High Oracle Requiemis, Oracle The Realm of Sehkmet, and Scribe Denellin. While the removal of the Scribe was legal, the removal of a High Oracle during a State of Emergency would be questionable at best.

Qon would then go on to develop a Writ of Revision removing the ban on Scribes holding other offices. Another Writ of his allowed for Selected Scribes to be fired at will by the High Priest. These were two of the more popular Writs of Revisions made. This prompted High Priest Zartavaria to appoint Zosar as Selected Scribe.

With these new changes, Eastern ashanti would be appointed the new Chief General over a now reopened Defense Guild. Werbandwould be elected Scribe and by June 30th, the Second State of Emergency in Abydos history would come to a close.

Scribe Zosar would introduce The Conclave Act into law, which allowed for the Conclave to ratify a law that had been rejected three times by a High Priest. Additionally, The Confirmation Act requires the High Priest to act within 72 hours to either sign or veto a bill. The combination of these acts profoundly changed Abydos, giving new authority to the Conclave and with it, allowed them to exercise their importance in the region. Riding on this success, Zosar would become the next High Oracle of Abydos. He began a campaign educating citizens with his Exploring the Eye series.

High Priest Eastern ashanti

Zartavaria would not seek another term as High Priest, leaving Eastern ashanti to win the High Priest Election by default. Zartavaria would become an Oracle and join the Oracles Guild. This transition of power not only marked a change in leadership but can be seen as a clear change in leadership style by Qon.

High Priest Eastern ashanti ordered a purge of inactive nations from the region, a popular solution to clean out the Apathy with the citizens, however unpopular with
Grand Luxarch Qon. None the less, after a Quick Appointment of Katniss Everdean as Chief General, a purge of 39 non-WA nations occurred in Abydos, dropping the population down to 40, cutting the overall region's population in half. The Purge of Apathy, as it has come to be known paved the way for a revived Abydos in the months ahead.

Qon, in his famous I Eat Rights For Breakfast speech highlighted the need for the citizens to be more competitive, encouraging them to challenge him for the position of Grand Luxarch. High Priest [region]Eastern ashanti[/region] responded with a renewed call to restore the Bill of Rights that was ratified in February 2019. Qon made the case that the Bill of Rights was not officially ratified and thus the Conclave was moved to re-ratify a Bill of Rights for Abydos.

Botched Resignation

Grand Luxarch Qon made an announcement that he wished to resign on November 2nd, 2019 and indicated he either wished for a Grand Conclave to decide the next Grand Luxarch, or he would appoint someone old enough to become the next Grand Luxarch, either Zosar or Eastern ashanti.

German federal reich, after all this time, realized that Qon and Zyris were the same person and prompted a review by the Oracles Guild over the matter of legality. High Oracle Zosar ruled it unconstitutional while Oracle Zartavaria disagreed. Zyris would go on to override the calling the review invalid. Zosar, refused to recognize this, and Zyris called for his resignation. Zosar refused. Qon stated that the Oracles Guild was in full-scale rebellion and decided to cancel his November 2 plan for resignation, asking the region to coup him if they so choose.

As a final act of retaliation against the region he helped to revive, Grand Luxarch Qon appointed the seldom active nation of Amenhotep as the sixth Grand Luxarch of Abydos, locking down the Grand Luxarch position for the foreseeable future and launched an aggressive recruitment campaign to swell the numbers in Abydos.

Grand Luxarch Amenhotep

Dynasty: Zartavarian

Rapid Expansion

Grand Luxarch Amenhotep was appointed by Grand Luxarch Qon on October 22, 2019, after his popularity had soured and the Oracles Guild was in a so-called rebellion. To the surprise of many, Amenhotep was appointed Grand Luxarch, in knowing that he is not as active and thus creating a permanent power vacuum over the region. This choice to appoint a nation who has long stood unwavering over the security of the region would enter into the realm of politics unexpectedly and great changes would occur that would transform the face of Abydos.

Zyriswent ahead and launched a recruitment campaign that would swell Abydos from 58 nations to 188 during the term of Amenhotep, the second-largest sustained period of growth in Abydos History and pushed Abydos into record-breaking populations. Under his rule, Abydos gained more citizens than any other Grand Luxarch to date, despite being the least active Grand Luxarch so far in history.

High Priest Eastern ashanti would go on to appoint Siannytar (later renamed Wanasnaswa) to the position of Chief Cartographer, while this same nation worked and rebuilt the Abydos Gateway. In response, Zyris went on to update the Law Library. These two things had fallen woefully out of date. Likewise, with a new map, nations began roleplaying once more, an act which had been suspended since the fall of the Zyris Dynasty.

High Oracle Zosar would move to expand the Oracles Guild with the appointment of Oracle Son agiergion.

High Priests Interim Election

High Priest Eastern ashanti would resign from office, revealing publicly that the nation was an alternate nation of Antideluvian empyrea, A Zyrisian Dynasty citizen who had departed Abydos during the Great Fall.

Two candidates from The Order of the Sacred Eye party emerged and decided to campaign against one another for the position as this was the only political party in existence and had been the only party since February 2019.
The candidates were German federal reich and Zartavaria.

This election would trigger the creation of The Iron Expansionist party to be created by Centrostate, and The Party of the Sun by Wanasnaswa. In an effort of neutrality, Grand Luxarch Amenhotep would go onto appoint Wanasnaswa and Novo provinia as appointed Scribes. A new nation, Tigriso would join the Iron Expansionists, however, Centrostate would be removed by the Moderators for cheating. Wanasnaswa, who initially struggled with the establishment of his party would go on to merge both new parties calling it the Solus Ferrus Object, a combination of names.

The High Priest election ended in a 9-9 tie between the two candidates. After consulting High Oracle Zosar, a runoff election is to occur, however, German federal reich conceded the election to Zartavaria for party unity and Zartavaria would be declared the 7th High Priest.

With the High Priest now decided, Zartavaria would move to appoint The united states of the german reich as Chief Ambassador and German federal reich as Elder Statesman. These would fill Government positions that had been vacant for months. Furthermore, Centrostate and Tigriso would become Selected Scribes. When Centrostate was removed, dishonorably for cheating, Son agiergion would replace him.

That’s great I’ll update the guild page now. In regards to regional history we don’t have any jurisdiction over that anymore but in regards to the history of the guild we still can write about that. So if you still want to update the history it will be only about the history of the Oracles Guild.

Oh ok that should be far easier as it's alot less work for me to do if it's not the history of Abydos but just the history of the guild. I'm still willing to do that I would just need to know what about it's history needs to be updated. As I said before I haven't been keeping tabs on anything besides whats said on the RMB.

I’ll see what I can do to help you wish it. Try sending Yaqobia a telegram and they might be able to help fill in some of the blanks too.

As well as update the entire Gateway.

I'll be sure to do that as soon as I can. I take it that Yaqobia has left and so wouldn't see this otherwise. If so how would they know what needs to be updated to the guild?

I’ll send him a message on discord and see if he’s up to giving us a hand. I still talk to him on and off so I’ll see what I can do

Ok so I sent Yaqobia a telegram so hopefully I get a reply sometime today so I can work on updating it's history. Once I do this do I send it over to somebody to review or whatever. This is the first time I'm doing anything like this and I'm fairly sure this kind of thing would be reviewed in case anybody wanted it to be as good as it could be.
