The byzantine city-state

Archron empire wrote:RP: The preparations for a Invasion

While Archron has been defending the Island, It's time to gain some land. Archron has promised to Deliver 5 vessels capable of sending Monarchist troops onto the shores. With Archron sending Weapon supplies, They have made it clear the The byzantine city-state will have to make the invasion with the vessels, themselves.

RP: For King and Country!
The Early morning was heavy with moisture. Fog rolled in over the waves and sapped all the color from the usual ocean blue. 32,000 men, armed, armored, and geared to the teeth, boarded up the 5 boats that morning. Months of preparation and the ignorance of the mainland had paid off as the invasion of the mainland started on that bleak-looking morning. 52,000 men were about to be sent into the mulcher and come out either victorious or retreating with a syndicalist fleet in tow. Everything hinged on this day. With the Totalists and Syndicalists knocking about New Jacinto with the brunt of their armies, early scouts had noted minimal defenses along the northern coastline and plotted several usable landing zones to mount the invasion.

By sun-up, the boats left the port and headed towards the mainland. In the skies above, the total airforce available to the Monarchist faction flew by with their own squads of soldiers on board. King Raven and Falcon helicopters whirred above and rushed towards the mainland...

Landfall was a little after 9 AM local time. City-side AA hadn't detected the low flying helicopters. The helicopters swooped in and dropped off their squads of soldiers just hours ahead of the main invasion force. 40 squads of 10-20 men each snuck into the northern towns of Ebdani, Caledonia, York, and Onor. Their sole goal was to disrupt operations and make it easier for the main force to secure the front. The northern cities didn't see the fighting and barely saw a change in their day-to-day life. The economy of the Syndicalists had been in a war economy for several months now so the long shifts were becoming a normal aspect of the denizens of the cities. However, that all changed when soldiers stormed and seized local powerplants.

The smaller cities ran on a mixed grid of fossil fuel and bio-electric energy sources. Ebdani was briefly famous for its creation of a biomass reactor. This reactor became a target for the raids. The small squads of Monarchist forces hastily stormed the plants and held the operating crews as hostages and shot down local security forces, at least the ones who resisted. Radio chatter spiked:

"Ebdani power control on standby"
"Caledonia Power Control on Standby"
"York Power Control on Standby"

They were waiting on the Onor strike team to make their call. A long and uncomfortable hour passed and there was no call-in. The grids of the 3 smaller cities suddenly went dark, shutting down all of the resident industry simultaneously.

The main landing force was rather successful in obtaining the beachhead. The first wave set up a large perimeter around the naval landing zone just north of Caledonia. When waves two and three arrived, the full landing zone was secured and the push began. With 3 of the 4 cities plunged into electric darkness, the invasion was easier. Cell and radio towers weren't working for the residents, local security, or even stationed army militia. The three small cities had only a handful of garrison infantry and no means to counter a full invasion.

Armed resistance was largely restricted to government buildings and local military barracks. There, the gunshots rang aloud, and soon the whole region was aware of what was going on. Thousands of purple-colored soldiers rushed through the city streets, shouting and telling citizens to get back indoors. Firefights in the street occurred between police who'd been responding to calls, ie people rushing to police stations to tell stories, about armed gunmen shooting up the streets. Police forces were hastily pushed out of the streets and either killed or forced to surrender to the Monarchist soldiers.

Sometime around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, the cities fell quiet and the townhalls were adorned in purple flags. A two-front war had just begun...
