MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR: FRENCH PARLIAMENT BANS COMMUNIST PARTY FOLLOWING REFERENDUM
      VTH REPUBLIC | PARIS, 2020

    | HELM OF LIBERTÉ, MINISTÈRE DE L’INTÉRIEUR - | Following a referendum put forth to the general population of the Vth Republic which received 58% support, the National Assembly convened in session and formally introduced legislation to ban the Communist Party of France and its bloc of members. The legislation (Regulation 788/2020) was spearheaded by PM Marine Le Pen's National Rally party which has cited the Communist Party's various attempts to alter the state of democracy in France and the party's radical political agenda which if implemented would be in violation of national security and the democratic principles of the Vth Republic under the Constitution of 1958. Parliament has passed Regulation 788/2020 with 389 of 577 votes in favour in the National Assembly and 286 of 348 votes in favour in the Senate. As a result of this new law, at least 36 MPs will have to step down immediately and those vacancies shall be filled via new elections. |

| July began with France declaring a ban on the French Communist Party, which is certainly an affront to Democracy. The young students at the University of Tokyo were in a pacifist demonstration with only a few signs in their hands saying “Japan Supports Ermanism” and others “France is Liquidating Democracy”. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike ordered the police to only keep students away from the French Embassy gates. At noon sharp, the Central Government alerted the Prime Minister's Cabinet about the protest, the Chief Cabinet Secretary, Naomi Sato, will support the protest and encourage all young people to do the same, somewhat criticized by the other members of the Cabinet by encouraging a National Disorder. The Prime Minister made a brief statement to France. |
