| On this rainy afternoon in Tokyo, at the official office of the Prime Minister of Japan in Kantei, Abe organizes a private meeting with the youngest son of Junichiro Koizumi, who was the Prime Minister of Japan from 2001 to 2006 — Abe announces he will no longer contest the 2017 Japanese general elections . . . therefore, Shinjirō Koizumi, Minister of the Environment, received Abe's proposal to be the next leader of the Liberal Democratic Party. Koizumi accepted the proposal to lead the party and become the next Prime Minister. Abe asked Koizumi if he was ready to command one of the most important nations in the world, he smiled and replied, "Yes. As the youngest politician in that government. I am ready to represent this country."

Obviously, some members of the Liberal Democratic Party were not in favor of putting a "young man" to run in the general elections. Komeito leader Natsuo Yamaguchi said. "I am proud to say that Abe was one of the best Prime Ministers that the Japanese people have ever had. We all hope Koizumi is the best just like your father was."
