I'm doing a small rework of Tanzania's history. In this timeline the one-party democracy was never abolished, and Tanzania kept the presidential system. All previous rp's besides one's to do with elections will still be accurate.

President Mangula Announces a New Currency

In a surprise announcement outside the president's residence in Dar es Salaam, Philip Mangula announced that the nation will be adopting a new base currency known as the Tanzanian Ryal. The President noted that the shilling, worth less than a Paramerican penny, was too inflated to be of use, and made trade more difficult for Tanzanian businesses. With one Ryal being worth 350 Shillings, it is hoped that the Ryal will be about equal to the Turkish Lira.

Ngozi Geothermal Plant Finishes Construction

Following years of construction, the poster child of President Mangula's electrification project has finally commenced operations. With an output of 600 MW, the plant is estimated to nearly double Tanzania's power output. With less reliance on hydroelectricity, the government hopes that the added stability to the nations power grid will convince more businesses to invest in Tanzania's future, as well as end common rolling blackouts during droughts. Local officials also added that the plant, located far from the capital of Dar es Salaam, represents the future to many Tanzanians who feel forgotten by the counties leaders.
