The Campaign for the East

^{October, 1996, AFDL forces officially enter Zaire proper and attack Tutsi refugee camps occupied by Hutu Interahamwe that fled to Zaire after their defeat in the Rwandan civil war. AFDL strike groups came in waves across the Rwandan-Zaire border, splitting into 3 main groups. Group 1 consisted of 1,000 total manpower with a tag along force of Rwandan RPF soldier's who sought to finish off Hutu militias and put the AFDL into power. Group 1 focused on liberating the Tutsi refugee populace from Interahamwe forces. Group 2 and 3 focused on taking the roads and villages from FAZ forces. The main goal was to take the city of Bukavu and secure the province of Kivu. Their force was about 2,000 + strong with 500 Rwandan RPF soldier's.}

BATTLE PERFORMANCE AND RESULTS 

GROUP A.

The performance of group A was one of excellence and effectivity. Group A had seccesfully liberated 4 minor refugee camps alongside the Zaire border area and 1 large refugee camp located in southern Kivu, near the city of Uvira. Interahamwe forces initially had the advantage of superior numbers and defense but ADFL forces proved to be the superior fighters as they dealt the Interahamwe devastating defeats in short skirmishes. Over all Group A suffered very few casualties while claiming a kill count of 132 Interahamwe forces. No POWs as Rwandan Tutsi RPF had a zero tolerance for Hutu's militias and often just straight up execute them on the spot.

GROUP B AND C.

Attacking from the north, group B and C came into contact with FAZ border forces and won several skirmishes but was unable to hold any of it's territory as FAZ air support posed too much of threat to establish an AFDL territory. So Group B and C opted to simply commit to hit and run strategies. Attacking FAZ positions by night and moving about by day. Current objectives of group B and C are attack the roads and FAZ checkpoints. Casualties are low but somewhat larger then Group A.

OC: first time doing a war so I'll be rping just general military campaigns with some battles sprinkled in between. Battles with foreign forces be rp'd out :)
