From what I gather, the imperium was better equipped pre Heresy. At the same time, the Munitorium Manual mentions that the standard equipment and intended uses were developed centuries ago, and since they were good enough for heros and legends of the past, they are good enough for us.

Interesting, interesting...you're probably right, it would be too strange to read from the xenos perspective.

Have you read Dune?

Very nice synergy with our region there. I understand there is broad consensus that the original Dune series heavily influenced the 40k universe. And, having read it, I tend to agree.
