Unification of Fjaraheim and Brjotanedri [entry 0.01]

“With Life comes hardship. With Love, comes hurt and vengeance. Today marks the day when compassion triumphs over the evil nature of man, the nature of war, the nature of hate and resentment… Where brothers and sisters shared laughs, now empty are their homes, torched by a savage fury that burned within the hearts of warriors on both sides… No echoes remain to be heard.

“At long last, the conflict shared between Nedriheim and Fjaraheim can be buried with the fallen. Never again will take up arms against another, never again will we submit to lesser whims. Long Live Fjarabrjota! May--”

Light from the screen faded as the man watching unpowered it, leaving him sit in a darkened room as he contemplated the meaning of it all. Thing were going to change for him. They had begun to change when the Fjarans fired the first of many shells that devastated the homes of innocents. This time, it would be he who would control the Fates. For this man, the war was far from over.

Highway 010, Fjarabrjota

“Leithari?”

A well dressed man, bearing a symbolic tattoo on his left cheek, placed his tablet down on his lap.

“What is it, Porandi? We’re almost at the capital and I’ve yet to memorize this speech.”

The assistant sitting parallel to the Leithari shuffled in his seat for a moment.

“I’ve just received notice from the Chief of Staff our security status has gone up to Danger-3, as a result, we’ll be given more personnel as we enter Steinveg.” he said, adjusting his glasses.

The Leithari slumped back in his seat and sighed.

“I thought we had gotten past this? No matter… We’ll continue on as planned.”

Their convoy continued eastward; toward Steinveg, the newly established Capital of Fjarabrjota. Accompanied by four LAVs, only a madman would attempt an attack…

1 Hour 32 Minutes later…

Hidden behind a treeline that flanked the four-lane highway, over twenty-five camouflaged men watched and waited for their target. The first row held ten men, out of which, 3 held rocket-propelled explosives while the rest held anti-armor and heavy machine guns. The men that were left lay prone behind their comrades, armed with assault rifles.

Far down the road shapes began to take form as the convoy neared their position. They soon came well within firing distance of the marksmen in the front row.

“Squads Alfa through Foxtrot, Range, 500!” shouted the foremost soldier.

“Squads Alfa through Foxtrot, Ready!.. WATCH AND FIRE, WATCH AND FIRE!” he shouted again.

Rockets fired towards the Convoy’s LAVs with two confirmed hits on the foremost on the left while the Marksmen attempted to disable the Leithari’s Vehicle. The convoy halted and attempted to reverse hastily, though in vain. Larger groups of light infantry had set up farther up the highway just for this, disabling the rest of the vehicles within the span of a minute. The last three LAVs deployed their own squads of infantry, resulting in a very short firefight that left more dead than wounded. From their positions, the ambushing attackers rushed toward the disabled convoy, followed lastly by medics who tended to the wounded enemy soldiers.

One of the attacking soldiers stood separate from his squad, removing his helmet and moving his rifle to his back. He walked passed a smoking LAV toward the Leithari’s vehicle - all six wheels had been blown out. As he reached the passenger door he drew his sidearm and rapped on the tinted window.

“Leithari? I’m here to escort you into the Capital. No one else will be harmed so long as you comply. Even now we tend to those we couldn’t kill. You’ve nothing to fear from me or my comrades, here.”

A few moments passed.

“Fine, I’m coming out with my assistant. We’re armed. A pistol each inside our jackets.” said the Leithari, prior to opening the passenger door.

The commanding soldier nodded impressed. He had not expected things to go so smoothly.

“You best explain yourself, whoever you are.” said the Leithari with his hands skyward. “I’m a very busy man these days.” he said scornfully.

The soldier nodded once more.

“Of course, however there are other matters of state you need to address first. This was the only way for that to happen.”

The soldier made a hand gesture to two of his men, who then relieved the two prisoners of their weapons and promptly cuffed them.

“You’ll never see the light of day after this, you know that right?” the Leithari spat towards the commanding soldier.

“Perhaps…” was his reply.
