Manchurian Agent (or Manchurian Candidate) refers to a person brainwashed to commit certain acts or behave a certain way upon hearing an assigned trigger (a word or phrase used to provoke reaction). The term comes from Richard Condon's novel "The Manchurian Candidate" in which one of the characters is brainwashed to become a professional assassin upon hearing a trigger word.
