Founder Announcement:
Citizens of the civilized region, on this day we announce a difficult transition. For four years, the New Western Atlantic has stood as a crowning achievement of diversity both in nationality and thought. Equally so, it is the pinnacle of democracy and liberty. Today we stand as a community of assorted beliefs, cultures, religions, ideologies and more. In retrospect, along the path we have traveled is marked with several attempts by those who were determined against us. Some even coming from within.
In our preceding region, led by Baconbacon123, its leadership hoped to unleash the power of banjection against all members of the opposition party. When I stood up and spoke out, I too suffered the same fate. Or so he thought, at least. What he did not realize is that I would establish a New Order and we all would coalesce around it. One devoted to security from raiders and political stability to quell uprisings like that of the now-redeemed Saint william the horrid.
Our decision to breakaway from The Empire of Oppression five years ago was a difficult decision, one that required much thinking on the part of all of us at the time. Namely The brotherhood of kyro, Heisenbee, Baconbacon123 and myself. We ventured into the unknown wasteland that is the wider NationStates community, and despite the level of self doubt we may have had, we established a community that would go beyond the mere borders of a single region. This is a community that transcends it as we have settled in three regions to date. Our cherished beliefs of democracy, liberty, security and stability have endured it all. Each having been strengthened as time elapsed.
As I previously alluded, this region has existed for four years and even longer the community itself. As its Founder and eventual first Monarch, I can testify that is has been an exhaustive four years. While governments come and go, I have remained here for the duration of each. There have been a countless amount of cabinet ministers and precisely eleven governments, ten Prime Ministers, and nine sessions of congress. My tenure began with confidence and it would not have remained that way without the adversaries that keep me ever-vigilant or the countless amount of friends that have aided me along the way. Of course, I would be neglectful to not mention each and every one of you for being a part of the region and, more importantly, embarking with me on this journey. So thank you. Although this is nothing more than an incredibly bare browser forum, the people which I have been most fortunate to meet have widened my perspective of the world. To me, it is much more about the relationships and knowledge you receive during the process as opposed to the endorsements or titles.
To those who might be thinking that this is yet another patriotic speech from His Majesty, I assure you that it is not simply another announcement. This is, in fact, my final one. After extensive rumination, I have decided that I will be abdicating the Monarchy. This is for a series of reasons, most notably the time I find myself devoting to keep tabs on every aspect. From the senate and its resolutions to court proceedings and inter-regional affairs. While I am capable of doing this and have showed as much, the question I find myself asking is whether I want to? Admittedly, I am hard-pressed to find an answer that I find acceptable to justify the time requirements. To that end, it is time I step aside to pave the way for someone new and something else.
The direction of our course as a community is clear. At first, I considered appointing someone as my successor to lead this region, but the unfortunate reality is that only the Founder or Delegate may exert executive power. Neither of which are legitimate alternatives as I have no intention to cede this nation to someone else, nor can stability be realistically provided via a Delegate who accrues the most endorsements. The latter of which would render the region susceptible to schemes for power or whomever is most popular, both potentially teeing up a tyranny-by-majority. This is unacceptable.
In order to assure the security and continued stability, this region shall be reorganized into the first New Western Empire. Not to worry, Josephtan has assured me that he shall create a successor state that adheres to this region's values and aesthetics, and so I have vowed to advise and aid him where necessary. This may include transferring the constitution, code of conduct and dispatch of political parties to him. To our Roleplayers, it will be permitted to transfer over to this new region with the assurance that it shall be recognized officially and guaranteed autonomy. All of which I am prepared to do.
May the Fourth, one week from today, will be the date that I close the borders and the upcoming Summer general election will be postponed, both of which are indefinite. Nations may remain in the region for as long as they like, barring extraordinary circumstance. However, the day-to-day governance shall cease. It is important to mention that this eleventh government will not officially expire until 31 June at midnight. The Discord server will remain open for the community to continue using and I will make it a priority to answer every question that will be asked.
Do not be saddened, for while this region stands as a testament of where we began, it too is a blueprint of what is yet to come.
