The people of starlight wrote:The death penalty is used to deter crime and bring justice to those convicted of serious crimes (like murder). Those who believe juveniles should be eligible for capital punishment believe that it would deter criminals from a younger age, which would reduce crime rates. They also believe that you can't put an age on justice. Those who believe minors should be exempt from the death penalty believe that it is cruel to kill minors; they believe that children are not as mature as adults and should not be tried as such. This begs the question: should minors be eligible for the death penalty?
