Ooh, a new potential “strategic competitor”. (Dusting off the submarines and plans for ‘the device’.)

Reintroduced Socialism in my country and just got over 15 Quadrillion (I think) in GDP. It's weird that going Socialist helps my economy but loosing up regulations hurts me.

Hello!

What do you think this year's April fools will be?

Nedea wrote:What do you think this year's April fools will be?

Boring.

I feel that

Nedea! I just came across a perfect name for your capital if you ever feel like changing it — Taxhaven.

I love it! I think I'll keep DarkHaven just because of the history with it but I'll certainly make it a city. Thanks!

Dang Athretvari, just shy of the top 10

7th. Was 6th. Need to breakout my test-tubes and get to experimenting some more.

I'm just thinking for some reason about how roughly the internet in public use has been around 25 years. I can still remember using Dialup for AOL. I couldn't imagine sites like YouTube being around. I'm curious on how YouTube would work on Dialup. The technology for streaming (Netflix,YouTube) has been around for about 10 years. Rambling aside do you guys think we are reaching as far as we can tech and software wise in home computing? All I could see is faster computing and processing.
On another note would home consoles ever match PC gaming?( I've only played on consoles)

It is kinda insane to think of far the internet has evolved in such a short time. I think things will be very segmented in the future. Lots more computing power and faster connections, as well as lots of “internet-of-things” (driverless cars, smart appliances, workerless factories, etc. all AI controlled and all needing a very strong internet infrastructure). But, I think we may also see two major types of internet/computer and telecom technologies develop because of how vital that infrastructure will become — Chinese developed tech and tech developed in the US/EU. I can totally see a day when Chinese tech is totally useless in the “West” and vice-versa.

Consoles and desktops will merge, and you’ll simply buy the necessary accessory devices, desktop monitor, large digital display, direct sensory-input devices, sexbots, etc.

While I driverless cars are a good thing I think that infrastructure on the roads needs to be updated to help the cars. Basically have another form of GPS on the roads so that it'll be easier for cars to recalculate speeds and where the quickest way is. Right now at best I think that we are in the "beta" stage for driverless cars. Where limited driverless cars are around. I think driver assistance apps need to be further developed in greater detail. I also think Tesla would be better off as a hardware company for other car companies. They proved to everyone that the concept works but I think that they could develope electric cars faster by working with other car companies.

So today was another kick in the balls. As some of you know my father has cancer. Today he had a chest x-ray and they found a growth. They don't know if it's a tumor or a cyst. They need him to get a CT scan.

Oh man, that’s terrible news. I was hoping he was doing much better. You guys are always in my prayers, and I’m not even a religious man. (Truthfully, I’m agnostic, but do “pray” each night that the motions of this Universe are kind and gentle to you guys and your loved ones. I guess I worry there is a one in Infinity chance there is in fact a God and well, why not express my hopes in a quiet prayer, just in case.) The best thing for you and him is to simply be by his side and offer him the support he needs to keep fighting. And you should know that we’re here if you need to chat or just express what you’re going through and how you’re feeling.

I wouldn't mind seeing a more modern rp but I've always been leery of straddling the IC/OOC. If we want to use RL Nations maybe we should just use RL Nations. Simple rules like no nukes and no preexisting treaties. Everything else is changeable. For instance if I want to RP as the Grand Duchy of Moscow instead of Russia I can.

Yeah, plus having a Conventional war in the current rp would basically be suicide with all of the different types of WMDs.

Well WMD are not really used at all. Very few nukes have been used overall unless it was to restart the RP. RP wise it would be a smaller country who would use a WMD of some sort. Through the RP there is usually at least a two sided or sometime a three sided conflict. Without Moarfall and Saratoga Nedea probably back any free market nation. Ath would back any Socialist nation. I would back any who gives me a advantage. Smaller Nations can't take on the big three but can manipulate them to gain.

It was neither it's a hernia apparently. So it's some good news for a change.

I can see something working if we keep ourselves very small relative to the rest of the real world. For example, no one could RP as China because we can't control what real China does and so its actions would constantly be restricting or resetting whatever the player wants to RP. But if we RPed as new, small countries (kinda like city-states ala Vatican City, Singapore, San Marino, Hong Kong, or Monaco) then we could RP interacting with each other and with present day countries in the context of what they are actually doing. Like a tiny, newly declared Athretvari Citystate taking a diplomatic stand and recognizing Taiwan over China. (Economic suicide? Maybe.)

I can see RPing as an existing city as a potential powder-keg of RP excitement as the rest of Russia might not be so cool with the idea of an independent Moscow.

But maybe you can RP the government of Russia going sooo bankrupt and broke that they actually sell all of St Petersburg, or hell, even all of Moscow area to the 46566 Corporation. (Sold at basement prices. What a deal!)

I think Athretvari would likely follow that type of history, except bought by a group of 'mad scientists'. (Mwa-ha-hahaha! Mwa-ha-hahahahha!)

Or have it that certain Nations be NPC. Like the UN security count Nations(US, France, UK, China, Russia) I did a RP where I was Andorra playing France and Spain against each other. The purpose would be to play as the non power Nations typically played. Though almost immediately Europe is going to crash economically do to there being no EU at all. The same thing for the African Union.

Gerd damn, black market keeps increasing. that's a lot of money that could be taxed and used for the military. Don't wanna end up with 15%+ like 46566, only thing is it doesn't seem to bother his economy, he has like 0 income tax yet has nearly 1 Quadrillion, basically a Sleeping giant if he used turned his economy into a war economy.

I'm at 15 Quadrillion right now with my black market as bad as it is. The black market is probably to skirt the regulations I have placed(proper wage, safety, having bulk of the product made in 46566) My black market is nearly 3 Quadrillion ducats. I RP that some of the money is slush money my government uses as bribe money or to run off the books things.

Considering the only """Banned""" import in Nedea is Alcohol, I find my 1% black market very entertaining.
