Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining that. So the delegate election is not open to the region at large. I've been a part of regions that operate that way, it certainly helps with stability.

Would anyone like to join nationstates soccer league. It is a league that nations compete in. No need to move regions. Just say you want to be in or like this post and I’ll put you in

Sanctaria wrote:Best of luck to both candidates, and thank you to Laeral for stellar service over the past 18 months or so.

Libertas Omnium Maximus wrote:I believe that many congratulations and honest thanks are in order for Laeral. I believe it was George Washington who mused (this is major paraphrasing) that one of the most important things a president [or leader] can do is gracefully relinquish his power. It is this mindset that allows the democratic system to work. I believe that Laeral exemplifies this concept, even agreeing to be the commissioner for the election that shall replace him.

I will be sad to see him leave office and would like to thank him for serving this region as delegate for nearly 2 years.

New Lusitania and the Algarves wrote:Also, as Sanctaria mentioned, thank you to Laeral for his period in office, which was well run.

Thank you to everyone for expressing your appreciation! It's been a pleasure and an honor to serve as our Delegate, and I'm grateful to everyone's who's stepped up on behalf of the region, from regional officers to everyone who's just taken part in regional activities. I will of course be continuing my roleplay involvement in future, and I hope to continue working for our region as a member of the regional government of the next Delegate.

As a reminder, here is the link for the election: https://theidu.us/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1983
All members of the IDUSA who have not CTEd during the voting period are welcome to vote. Voting will close on Monday, July 8th.

Congratulations to elected WA Delegate, Lauchenoiria!

Gnejs won both the film festival and the football championship this year. Something's clearly in the waters in that country!

Although the election isn't over yet, I do note your concession in the forum.

No matter the result, thank you for throwing your name into the ring. It's important we have elections for delegate, not coronations, and elections need more than one candidate. It's never an easy thing to become a candidate, but it's a very good thing for the region.

So thank you!

Indeed. Just because you, Trive 38, were not elected does not make you in anyway a less essential part of the IDU. I believe that all of your ideas had (and still have) merit and would improve this community were they to be implemented. I genuinely hope that Lauchenoiria considers you for a cabinet position as I believe you would be very well suited for the role of (Co)Culture Minister. The IDU could use more users like you Trive.

As Sanctaria said, thanks for putting your name in the ring. I hope to be seeing great things from you in the future.

Voting for the Delegate is now closed. With 12 votes for Lauchenoiria and 1 vote for Trive 38, Lauchenoiria is now the Delegate of our region!

As I have 38 WA endorsements to Lauchenoiria's 33, I'd like to encourage anyone reading this to un-endorse me and endorse Lauchenoiria, if they have not done so already. Please do this promptly so that the game will certify Lauchenoiria as the Delegate; in the meantime, I will obey her instructions regarding the region's vote on any WA proposals.

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me! Trive 38, I really liked your ideas and I hope we can discuss them further and I can try to incorporate some of them! Thanks again to everyone who voted, it’s good to see so many people participating in regional democracy. I hope that over the next six months that the region will continue to thrive and will become even more successful and I look forward to working to make this happen!

Thanks so much also to Laeral for his service as delegate over the last couple of years! He has been a fantastic delegate and it’ll be hard to follow him!

Un-endorsing you was hard to do. You have been a fantastic Delegate and I am pained to see you go. Farewell!

Congratulations to Lauchenoiria on the delegacy. She is a highly qualified individual who I am certain will serve us well and will be an equally capable (for lack of a better word) leader. Good luck to Lauchenoiria!

Ronald Reagan vs. Walter Mondale there xD

A very civilized election and transfer of power. Nice to see.

Legendary reference! Congrats, Trive 38 for a good run. You bring so much creativity and influence to the IDU, I hope and am sure that Lauchenoiria will bring many of your ideas into fruition!

As for Lauchenoiria, congratulations, my friend! I know your leadership and example will be well displayed for the IDU. I’m excited to see what this new season brings to our region! Looking forward to see what you’ve got in store as our new delegate!

And many more thanks to Laeral for being a charismatic and wonderful delegate to work with and look up to during my time here in the IDU (since September 2017). You’re an inspiration and it’s been great to get to see you work and become friends. Job well done, sir!

100/100 for great reference

100/100 for being a non US native and knowing the outcome of the 1984 Elections

100/100 for accepting defeat in the most professional way possible

Congrats to Lauchenoiria on winning the WA Delegate election! Can't wait to see what you do for the IDU.

And thank you Laeral for being the WA Delegate during my move to the IDU. You were very welcoming and thank for answering any questions I had.

Congratulations to Lauchenoiria on winning the election.
(Missed the election, but probably would've supported the winner tbh).

Congratulations to Lauchenoiria on winning the election.
Thanks to Trive 38 for standing in the election too, and also to Laeral for their service to the region.

I've withdrawn my endorsement from Laeral for now, until Lauchenoiria gains more endorsements. Looking at the current figures, it would probably make sense for two or three of you to de-endorse me as well...

I'll change the region's 'Welcome' TG to mention the new delegate rather than the former one as soon as I can after the identity of the new 'vice-delegate' is announced.

The endorsements have flipped over to Lauch. She is now the delegate according to the system's algorithms too (that happens when someone gets more endorsements than the current Delegate for those of you not well aquatinted with NS systems). It is official. She also is now 3 endorsements ahead of Laeral.

Check the World Factbook Entry too. It still says "please endorse Laeral"

Thanks mate!

Anyway, when are we doing speaker elections? The regional charter mandates that we have one... 2 weeks ago. We should probably get to that.

Lauch is a more than qualified speaker and I am not saying anything about her. I was just reading through the charter and noticed that no speaker may hold office for more than one year

Yeah we need to have one. I'll set up elections this week I guess. We haven't any laws in place re Speaker elections.

Sanctaria wrote:Yeah we need to have one. I'll set up elections this week I guess. We haven't any laws in place re Speaker elections.

Yup. All we have on them is that: [The] IDUSA shall elect a speaker by majority vote. The Speaker will preside over all sessions of IDUSA. Elections shall be held at least once a year. IDUSA may pass by-laws to further regulate the position and office of Speaker, including but not limited to, duties of the office, and term limits.
