It's an old country, from long before the days of true political parties, and as such certainly has political factions and cliques, but none are organized or have any legal power over other groups. The few elections Rikuchar does hold (mostly provincial and municipal-level) are nonpartisan.

Elections are held but the oppisition for some reason always seems to drop out at the last second.

Yes, rather strange. We should ban the opposition for wasting funds.

Hey, I just joined up. Hope to have fun with you all!

For example, on Western Europe and South Asia, I used specific online sources (plural) while on other spots on the map (New Zealand for example) I used the online web atlas GeaCron—which I’ve found isn’t always 100% accurate to the time period or so I’ve found

Pre-Columbian North America is decent. It captured the demise of the Hohokam and Anasazi cultures as well the movement of the Navajo and Apache south from the other Athabascan cultures in present-day W Canada. However, the diversity among Mesoamerican cultures is definitely underemphasized (However, some of that is simply due to the years that were chosen. The Aztecan Triple Alliance did not exist for too long before Cortés and his local allies destroyed it in 1521. Also, there was never such a thing as a purely Aztecan culture because the Aztec Empire was an alliance of city-states.)

Corunia and Mironor has *gasp* a fully functional multi-party parliamentary system, currently with nine parties in parliament: The Labour Party, Conservative Party, Nationalist Party, Solidarity Socialist Party (or SSP), Green Party, Centre Party, Libertarian Party, Mironorese Alliance, and Liberal Party. The current governing coalition consists of the Labour Party, the SSP, and the Greens

Democracy, pfah. The Exarchate is very happily neofeudal and very successful at that, what with the old 'family offices' of the noble families emerging as privately-held conglomerates.
Well, the ruling classes are happy. The serfs aren't quite so thrilled. But they're not relevant anyway.

That's IC, of course. OOC I applaud your commitment to democracy, as the least bad of all the other government types humanity has thus far tried.
High hopes for us to one day realize that economic systems and political structure aren't tied together, and try communism without a 'dictatorship of the proletariat', but rather a series of elected officials.

Prime Minister Lindsey Kawaguchi strongly condemns the neofeudalistic society of the Exarchate and expresses hope for democratic reforms in the near future, but does not change the diplomatic relations status between Corunia and Mironor and the Exarchate as they exist in different time continuities

It doesn't matter, all you need is a powerful ruler... like our great Emperor. LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!

I’m glad you brought that up because I actually planned on having my next map capture the Aztec and Inca Empires at their peaks. Usually the dates a use show an empire or country at its peak

110 Map: Height of the Roman Empire
560-570 Map: Height of The Byzantine Empire
730 Map: Height of the Umayyad
Caliphate
1020: Holy Roman Empire (not at its largest extent but closer to its founding)
1280: Height of the Mongol Empire (though it is shown divided into the separate Khanates)
1670: Height of the Ottoman Empire
1858: Qing Dynasty right before its largest land concessions to the Russian Empire
The 1910 & 1939 maps were both made as pre World War maps

So on my next map it would probably be sometime from 1470-1510

I mean... Rikuchar has been ruled by the same 2 people for its entire existence so *shrug*

I've always believed that in order for a dictatorship to work, its dictator must be immortal and benevolent. Immortal as nobody can trust successors to be benevolent, and benevolent for the well-being of the people is what matters most.

Is that possible though? Communism goes against the fundamental aspects of humanity and of governance. For no matter what happens, there will always be a market. Even in the most totalitarian communist governments of the USSR and the rest of the Eastern Bloc, there still remained a sizable black market which drove the economy more than any of the oppressive measure the USSR put into place. Not only that, but to enforce such a system requires quite a lot of oversight, and a democracy does not enforce oversight.
