I used to be a Dutch colony but then became a British one. Later, i combined with the British colony of Australia and when Australia gained independence i gained independence too since I was a part of it. I was a province of Australia until the Americans invaded and I became a US State. I later gained independence in the mid-20th century and became a Republic.
