What's the difference between being black and African? Not all Africans are black, and vise versa.
This a very VERY large debate.
If you're from Africa, you're African. However, ALL black people originate from Africa, hence, it should be said that the Afro-Caribbeans originate from Africa (they were brought to the Caribbean via the Slave Trade).
Used in black communities, is the one-drop rule, where basically if you have a single drop of black blood, you're black. Asian with a great grandfather who was Nigeria? - Black! Mix-race, one parent black? - Black! There also people who use the word 'black' to mean all the minorities of a certain nation. There are also some scientists who argue that race is simply a social construct, but, I suppose being 'black' means that your ancestors have originated from parts of Africa (NOT including North of Sahara, i.e. Muslim nations, but Sub-Saharan Africa, West Africa, and Southern Africa). That's my OPINION - originating from Sub-Saharan Africa (or Aboriginal Australia) especially, and/or having dark skin.
