The screen is empty
Like my brain, a man whistles
That’s something to write

NinjitsUtopia, Tanou, South Lebatuck, and Fuentanacards

Outside, sound of planes.
Still surprising: last summer
Everyone stayed home.

My shower is clogged.
Fridge has leaked out its coolant.
Life: "Things Fall Apart."

Chemicals fail;
Metal snake can't reach problem;
COVID killed fridges.

Semester ending;
Final projects coming due.
What else could go wrong?

Based on my dumb life
I think I could well say that
More things could go wrong

Many more that you
Can't even imagine now
So just be grateful

Spring is here in full.
May joy bloom with the flowers.
Nice, warm days return.

Over scented grass
birds flitter from tree to tree,
twitter from rooftops.

Monday, a new week,
I strain to hear human sounds,
Birds chirp, a dog barks.

Yes, I should have known
Better than to tempt fate thus.
My yap now is shut.

Lazy afternoon
On a peculiar Friday
All or none to do

Tasks not well described
An elusive exam waits
To be put online

Notifications
Rarely chiming from Slack now
I'm not used to this

Yet I have much work
And lots of unstructured time
I'm bad at planning

Let me take you to
The ruins of what has been
Hold my hand, and come

There used to be peace
'Twixt the river and the sea
One day, long ago

And now sulfur rains
We created hell on Earth
Do you smell the dead?

Enveloped in smoke
Humanity is choking
"But you shot me first"

I don't keep count now
What is math even used for?
Blood money for you

The world had plenty
Of forests, lakes, and rivers
And yet what happens?

A narrow desert
Barren like the hearts of men
Is what we fight for

Sandstorms, air sirens
I'd like to see real rain now
And not bombs and fire

No one can hear me
I sit in my room - thousands
of miles away from

where the crime happens
But even if you had heard
Would you even care?

We take our weapons
And then put on camouflage
Chart the course for bombs

It will always be
What it has always been - 'cause
We don't know better

This haiku is brief
Like a morning sip of tea
Still too hot to drink

A crackling candle
A gift from a friend moving
Smells fabulous too

too blessed to be stressed—
the mantra for term's end, said
by one really stressed

It is just too bad
When you have a good hair day
And no one sees it

Sunshine should lift hearts
but mine sinks beneath the weight
of expectation.

Good friends of Haiku:
Best of luck Philosophers
At asking questions.

Too fast for the eye
and hovering on the spot
flies the kolibri.

Doubt and dasein
provoking minds and hearts of
thinkers and poets

I am reminded:
Poet Rilke taught the wise
to love the questions

As I age, I sneeze.
Hayfever plagued my siblings,
Left me alone - bliss!

Now it's getting bad,
Eyes, nose, throat, my popping ears,
All senses infringed.

The pollen itself
Worse than ever: a yellow
Dust haze covers all.

Sorry to hear that
Please do take care of yourself
I hope you'll be well

Savor the evening
It is calm, the drizzle soothes
Even my worries

Fun to read haikus
With my morning cup of tea
Listening to birds

Oh, you like tea too?
My roommate left her teapot
When she left this flat

It's a cute teapot
Decorated with flowers
I thought she'd take it

And yet, she did not
So now the teapot is mine
Now I'm using it

Working on some slides
I'm drinking hibiscus tea
Teapot by my side
