WalDirect: The Waldenic Directory
Greetings!
Amsterwald was founded on the afternoon of June 20ᵗʰ, 2015, when I was twelve years old. How time flies! After long sojourns in the Commonwealth of Diverse Nations (my first region) and Commonwealth of Liberty (from December 6ᵗʰ, 2015), I let the nation fall into ruin now and again during my early-2020s college days before resurrecting it on September 4ᵗʰ, 2026 and perching it in Waldenia.During my school years, Amsterwald (a portmanteau of Amsterdam and
Aesterwald) wore a lot of hats; it advanced to the second round in the 2020 World Assembly Secretary-General elections, spent a lot of time in regional governments, and was used to post thousands of RMB messages, a great part of them geopolitical fiction. That time spent writing, making vector art, worldbuilding, and socializing is one of my staple memories of that time, and I continue to adore and recommend NationStates.
Aside from Amsterwald, other nations I had during my high school years included—aside from specialized puppets for nation-spots in the Commonwealth of Liberty—
Haderinum (2017–2022),
Hescia (2015–2022),
The Kathol Republic (2015–2020),
Leuvaarden (2015–2022),
Reathwood (2020–2022),
Saint Chase (2015–2017), and
Starsight (2020–2024), as well as the
LotC-rooted
Aesterwald and
Oren. I’ve also kept
Archivewald to host small-scale dispatches. Though my time using Amsterwald for anything more than toying around with issues and events is at an end—for now, at least—I have done my best to compile the remaining factbooks (and a few from the Archive) in a little “Waldenic Directory” below.

Waldenic Directory
Commonwealth of Liberty
Amsterwald’s Nations, the nations I wrote for when I participated in the Commonwealth’s map, spanning from December 2015 to December 2024.
Annual Ledger, a project I sporadically undertook to summarize the in-character posts on the Commonwealth’s message board each canonical year. It had a substantial archive.
Executive History, the history of the Commonwealth’s elected governments from its founding in September 2013 until elections were abolished in December 2022. I made clippings from that factbook about my own places in the Commonwealth’s governments.
Hall of Past Writers, a 2023 compendium of the Commonwealth’s most memorable retired writers.
Non-Intervention Party, a former political party in the Commonwealth, formed to end out-of-character (OOC) interference in the canon; the party opposed “land rights” (having authority over a spot without actually writing for it), disagreed with settling of in-character (IC) disputes OOCly, and objected to the use of Discord rather than the RMB. It swept to an election victory in March 2020, but conflict with the regional founders led me to resign the Presidency after ten days, taking a year’s leave from the region; Vice President Yarosluv, who succeeded me, did the same after twenty.

Reference Material (COL)
Fictional Companies, a compilation of fictional businesses that might be used by nation writers.
Resources, a short list of reference materials I used while worldbuilding.
⠀
Slovenia (COL)
The Slovene Republic, my longest and final nation project in the Commonwealth of Liberty, inspired by a summer 2022 trip to Slovenia. Its scope changed drastically, from a massively bloated interwar-Poland-style post-WWII state to a more modest Austria-style neutral Cold War state. It had an accompanying OOC disclaimer.
