The Republic of Iber is a tiny, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, compulsory military service, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 7 million Iberians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute, pro-business government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Defense, Spirituality, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 5.6%.

The very strong Iberian economy, worth 453 billion Iberian Dollars a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Woodchip Exports industry, with major contributions from Automobile Manufacturing, Arms Manufacturing, and Pizza Delivery. Average income is 64,757 Iberian Dollars, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 229,222 per year while the poor average 13,209, a ratio of 17.4 to 1.

The country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and thousands of children die every day from easily curable illnesses. Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Iber's national animal is the Wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Iber is ranked 210,619th in the world and 550th in Horizon for Most Rebellious Youth, scoring -4 on the Stark-Dean Displacement Index.
