Princess Jane Deposed; State Council Imposes Curfews

Jainiya was shocked today as the 15-year long reigning monarch, Her Royal Highness Princess Jane IV was placed under house arrest by the State Council Minister for Foreign Security, Robert James. Within an hour of news of the arrest, units of the Royal Jane Guard were placed on red alert, and select battalions were seen patrolling the streets of major cities. In Campo Rico a total curfew for all citizens has been announced for the next forty eight hours.

Although no official announcement has been given regarding the reason for the arrest of the princess, a temporary suspension of border processing has been announced, meaning that no one will be allowed to leave the country. Schools, churches, and most railway and bus stations have been closed, and there is a heavy police presence at Jainiya's two main universities.

In several cities anti-government demonstrations have been put down by the Royal guard, with protestors detained without charge. Several members of parliament have also been reported missing by family members. Opposition media have suggested that these latest arrests may be due in part to foreign meddling following longtime rival Mikalistam's induction into the Warzone Asia Socialist Pact as a protectorate.
