Been a citizen for many months. Voted in the last election no problem.

We have a 2-posts-per-month activity requirement for citizens. Perhaps you have lost your citizenship since the last election?

Not sure about posts per month, but I posted a bunch during the Z day event. A few times other than that as well.

Alright, first, you don't need to send telegrams, PMs and posts. One single way of communication works just fine.

Second, you lost your citizenship due to inactivity. Posting again doesn't regain it for you. You need to reapply.

Wouldn't I get a notice of some kind if it was suspended? Surely you would not suspened a citizen without due process would you?

So no notice is sent, just suspended. No due process. No nothing? Does not seem to me to be a very friendly, democratic way of handling that. If that is the case so be it, doubt I will reapply though in that case. Why bother if I forget to post and get suspended again. Guess this is how you keep the same people in power over and over? It is a shame, I really enjoyed the Z Day event working with everyone. Oh well maybe I will find a more inclusive region instead ....

It's not a matter of due process. You are responsible for maintaining your citizenship. If you fail to do so, that is entirely your responsibility.

Looking through the Citizenship application and I see nothing saying there is a 2 post per month minimum to maintain citizenship.

Article 1.2.8 of The Charter of The South Pacific states:

Citizenship will be removed if a nation has not logged into the South Pacific forums for more than 30 days and made two posts within that period.

Wow, a lot of posting tonight.

Furthermore, you applied for citizenship April 2nd of this year. Before today, your last post on the forum was April 3rd of this year.

Fair enough, I see that. I think it should have been in the application as well so new citizens know what is expected from the get go. Well good luck Hobbes and QuietDad. You had my vote!

Don't want to go inactive!

Yes, I won't go inactive

The two post rule applies to the off-site forum, not here. You can post as much, or for most people, as little as you want and it won't change much.

Here goes some clarification:

  • You get citizenship by applying for it in our regional forum. That entitles you to voting in elections and running for office. You do not need citizenship to participate in most regional affairs, or even to apply for a non-elected job in our government.

  • Citizens are required to post on the regional forum at least twice a month, to ensure that they are actually active in the region. Those who don't post get their citizenship removed. That is not a punishment, it's simple an acknowledgement that they are not really participating in the region. They are still welcome to reapply and continue participating, at their convenience.

  • We no longer notify citizens if they haven't posted twice in a month because often people simply fulfill the requirement and disappear until the next month. What we want to do is encourage citizens who actually want to be active.

If you have further questions about how citizenship in the region works, or about anything else related to NationStates, feel free to ask here or send me a telegram. I'll be happy to answer.

I was also unaware of this - I thought I was just getting some kind of forum error the past few months ...... what's the process for unsuspending? new application process?

You just need to reapply. Our Vice Delegate will approve your application in no time. :)

thanks .....

That makes sense. I have added a section about loss of citizenship (which isn't always due to inactivity) to our applications thread.

Time for our own elections too! Help us elect the Craziest Member of the Cabinet!

New Poll!

*Walks in wearing a Handsome Jack Costume* Hey there kiddos what's this I hear about elections.

My tax rate has finally hit 100%. Been on 98-99% for a long time. So guess it is a milestone.

Wasn't deliberately increasing it either, just a result of how I normally answer the issues. It will probably drop back down to 99% soon enough.

Well. I've lost these elections. Mind you, when you are against two players that have had a huge amount of experience and have had very high ranking jobs in the past, it's no surprise really.

Poor Aramanchovians.
