That's pretty awesome. I don't know if I want to do Chem or International Relations as a major. With my growing interest in how the war is being communicated (The Syrian Civil War is/was more of a war of perception than anything else), I might go with Journalism.

I think that the theory is valid, but it does ignore some crucial stuff, like the schism in the Ba'ath Parties between the Syrian and Iraqi factions and the huge boom in religious fundamentalism/terrorism that came out of places far from Iraq, like in Afghanistan and Chechnya. To bring it back to this region's politics, I would argue that Marxism has been replaced by Islamism as an answer to poverty and the like. That is, our targeted demographic has decided to "switch brands".

It's a good response, but I think it needs a Part II-the explanation for terrorism, why the Arab Spring turned into the Arab Winter in Syria, why did a localized conflict become a regional one, etc.

That's spot on right there, and I agree wholeheartedly. I would say that, because Marxism was not properly introduced and implemented, is exactly the reason why Islamism came in to replace it. Especially in Afghanistan and Chechnya. And it's going to be something we're all going to have to deal with unless we can sway them back in the right direction.

Definitely won't be easy.

The operation in Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant has ended in victory! Thank you to all comrades who came out to support the fight against extremism.

ISIL is losing in Kurdistan? The rebels in Donetsk are losing? Carmelo resigned with Knicks? The mafia has been routed in Napoli? Oh happy days!

Hello Comrades. How is it going?

We all do.

Cheers

My old comrades, I'm sorry for being CTE'd for some while. It was all because of some personal issues. It's great to be back here, I hope such parting never to happen again. I look forward to catch up the discussions at RMB.
Greetings to all of you folks...

It's all fine, and we're very glad to see you back.

Welcome back!

Oh, and I could potentially help with any of the vacant tasks the region has.

I'm going to announce new elections in a few days anyway. The schedule was screwed over by no one being here over the summer, unfortunately, but now that some people are back, we can start to get back into the swing of things.

I really doubt the last can happen, haha. :)

No, but seriously, things don't seem to be slowing down in the world anytime soon. Between Ferguson, Syria, Ukraine, and I think one of Israel or Hamas opened fire again, Ebola, it really does feel like we're living in "the happening".

In solidarity with our strategic partners here on NS, I condemn the actions of Communist bloodia in seizing Das Kommune's founder, and making a mockery if what had become a budding community.

Yeah, some guy seized the founder nation (he was a former founder), and kicked just about everyone out.

They should have been more careful.

Aaaaand everyone died.

Well guys, it's time for elections.

Those of you who have been here know how it works, 5 days to announce candidacy for the position of General-Secretary, followed by 5 days of voting, whoever wins holds General-Secretary for 60 days (with day 50 being when elections begin); the GS appoints the other government members.

I'd like to run.
