It's become quite an interesting scenario. Spain owns Fars (I like to compare it to the Portuguese Conquest of Goa to prevent brain explosion), the rest of Peria is absolutely balkanised after the Timurids imploded (Baluchistan's big, there's an ever-shrinking Persia, Khiva and the Timurid rump state have been playing around in the northeast as of late, and the Mamluks are expanding in from the west), the Mamluks are absolutely massive (they own Egypt, Kush, Iraq, The Levant, Arabia and are pushing east into Persia). When I don't have a 10,000 man cavalry army parked at their borders, the Mamluks think it's actually a smart idea to invade Anatolia (which is now half-Greek culture and entirely orthodox), and these routine wars basically always end in stalemates. The closest they've ever come to kicking my ass is taking the province of Van from my vassal, Armenia, which isn't much anyway. Moldavia has been taken over and rebelled back into a country about three times now, and recently they thought it was a smart idea to declare war on me. At least I got Silistria, Burgas, the loss of their core on Wallachia and 25 ducats from that war. Wallachia has been my faithful ally since day one. Serbia was also my faithful ally until the Hungarians conquered it, and when they tried to take Wallachia, I gave them what they deserved. Hungary is now a peaceful backwater all holed up in the North as me, Wallachia and Austria (who have recently warned me- which sucks) carve up the Balkans. You won't be able to see it apart from its Italian holdings, but there's a humongous spain that controls all of Iberia and Languedoc. The French have gone on a rampage in Germany and Northern Italy like they always do, and Denmark inherited Ulster and Norway and is now in the process of demolishing Sweden. Great Britain and Spain are the only ones to have reached the New World, which GB being a terrifying naval power. Russia is a battlefield between Slavic Christian Kingdoms and Tartar Muslim Khanates. A Christian, Russian Khanate actually revolted recently, which is weird. Poland and Lithuania have actually gone to war (so much for personal union), a pathetic little Ukraine exists after the Golden Horde was wracked by rebellions, The Teutonic order has collapsed (giving way to an independent Riga that is an elector in the HRE, and Prussian kingdom and a Thuringian Danzig. At least it means Poland has no sea access. Also, Central Europe is experiencing a surge of reformed Christians due to a vassalised Burgundy spreading the faith freaking everywhere, North Germany is a scary mix of reformed and protestant, and Ireland and Scandinavia are getting taken over by protestants. Also, there are a ton of random Khanates in Central Asia, and they sometimes send doomstacks over to Turkey when my kebab-removing happens to get me in another war with the ENTIRE Muslim World (from Algiers to that Chagatai place-thing), and when they do nothing believe that a 0% warscore means I'm willing to give them all of my money and release a bunch of oppressed Balkan peoples. Oh yeah, and ever since we got an emperor that sucked at everything (Manuel III), we got our first Empress, who was good at everything (Zoe II). Such a shame you can't turn female rulers into generals.

Or is the what if just asking what would happen if the Palaiologos were fortunate enough to somehow stop the Ottomans. I mean, they were a pretty decent dynasty, considering they basically refounded the Empire after the Fourth Crusade. They were just too late to stop the Turks IMO.
