Heh, that's just because I got better at appealing everyone. I think Sygian has a bit, at the very least he talked to me about the line in the welcome message (which I will do super soon). Technically I'm not his boss in any way though.

The best way to pick between issues is to see which suits you best obviously. Or as I like to do, pick whichever kills most people or makes them suffer.

When it comes to picking issues, it depends on the nation I'm playing. Here in Lordren, I try to pick whichever one Gwynn from Dark Souls 1 would pick. It usually ends up being the "crazy" option, but not always. In Draklexicon, despite being outwardly themed on Dark Souls 2 (I may have a bit of an obsession... does it show?) I pick things more in line with my own beliefs, so it's more of a Liberal state. I definitely don't play the Meta Game of picking whichever one will get me the best stats, tho.

For me, basically I'm playing as the immortal all powerful unchallengeable ruler of my nation, so it's all based on my whims and my biases. So yeah, if you ever appoint me as a nation's absolute ruler, basically my nationstates' nation is what you're getting.

Yeah, I get the USA interference, especially since we just re-opened relations with them recently, but I definitely don't get the Israel connection. Unless we're talking tin-foil-hat "Jews run the world" conspiracies here.
