Returning to the stuff I was talking about last night, my conclusion on Gaddafi is this: He really helped his people out, gave them a lot of reforms they needed, but used methods that were very insensitive to minorities and ended up with abusing people's civil liberties. He was a real egotistical, megalomaniacal jerk, but in the end did he act with benevolence? Did he die a martyr or a monster? I conclude that he died a human being, with as many good things and faults as everyone of us; I found myself enflamed by your comments on him not because you defended him, but because you seemed to ignore the negative qualities within him so fervently, so insensitively to the sacrifices of the Libyan people.
