The United Kingdom of Astholm, known as either the United Kingdom or Astholm is a widely visited tourist destination.
Mainly visited for its tourist attractions, food, geography and its history, it is a nation with a complex, yet turbulent, history.
Its people are known for being widely accepting of others' foibles and it is extensively multicultural with a very varied cuisine; you might get Mexican chilli fries or Indian curry with noodles in it!
This article refers to the original Astholm, and not Astholm, which is a similar nation with a similar culture, and founded by people from here, but has some different things about it.
It also has an empire stretching across a region known as The Holmes.
There is a wide variety of ethnic groups across the nation; English, Scottish, Irish, Astholmian, Indian, Chinese, Nigerian, Polish, Jamaican, Lithuanian, Cape Verdean, Latvian, Dutch, American, Mexican, Van Luxemburgian, Thorpenswyrian, Kosovan, Albanian, Croatian, Bosnian to name a few!
Interracial marriage is a major part of the nation's rich tapestry.
The nation's major exports are heavy machinery, automobiles and alcohol.
There is no official religion, and it is a capitalist society.
Automobiles are a major part of the culture; several brands well-known from Astholm include Rauwe, Austin, Celsan, and now as of 2014, Lada is being re-introduced in Astholm with the trademark acquired for a £5.
Also, the Astholm currency is collectible; it is in note form.

Citizens of any of The Holmes nations do not require a visa, and have the right to reside and work in Astholm. This applies to all, whether from Northolm, Southolm or Astholm.

Character concerns
Astholm's border officers do not generally ask about criminal history abroad, only within Astholm.
Entry may be denied to individuals who are on international wanted lists, or part of Mafia-style gangs. Dressing like one does not deem an individual inadmissible, however.

Astholm is a multicultural society. You can expect to see interracial couples in most towns, apart from smaller rural and coastal ones which are mainly Caucasian in population.
Racism is a criminal offence, but only insofaras threats of racism or hate speech. Racist threats in public can be counted as harassment, and you will be fined for it.
Homophobia is treated extremely seriously; LGBT rights are generally of a high standard in Astholm, and you will not be turned away on grounds of sexuality.
However, foreign same-sex marriages have no legal recognition, or legal standing anywhere in Astholm, and you cannot get same-sex marriage ceremonies performed. Performing a same-sex ceremony is not illegal, but it will not have any legal standing.
Public nudity is a criminal offence except in a medical context or in a sauna. You will be fined heavily for it, so don't do this.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is considered a joke in the nation, due to the extensive use of spammers trying to SEO it from Astholm IP's, so don't discuss it; they will respect the fact you like it, even if they disagree, but it is considered naff by some.
The automobile is a huge part of culture there, and absolutely necessary too, so don't criticise it heavily. Electric cars are not popular, so don't bother driving one; it's hard to find somewhere to plug it in.
Doing business in Astholm is done very differently to some nations; getting straight down to business is considered rude except in certain circumstances.
Business tends to move slowly, and will often be preceded by a lot of socializing, tea drinking, and meeting of the family. Rushing to the point may be considered rude, and even sour the deal.
The only exception to that is if you are there for a short time (like a week) but politeness is still expected.
