Accession Address of HM King George IX

George the Nineth, By the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Our other Realms and Territories King, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith. To all Lords Spiritual and Temporal and all other Our subjects whatsoever to whom these present shall come, Greeting.

A few moments ago my mother, Queen Constance II affixed her signature to her final act as Sovereign of the United Kingdom, her Instrument of Abdication, officially ending her reign. A reign of kindness and support, of solid and calm leadership in an ever changing and challenging world. She has been everything a region could possibly wish for in a Monarch.

Much like her namesake, she has dedicated herself to our region with selflessness, fairness, compassion and a dignified spirit that is unparalleled. We all owe her a huge debt of gratitude for picking up the Crown and restoring it to its rightful place in the region. A task she never sought nor desired. Her legacy shall forever be etched in the annals of history, and I am humbled to follow in her footsteps, guided by her wisdom and inspired by her love for the United Kingdom.

Following a long standing tradition in our region, it gives me great pleasure to show our region's appreciation for her service, in my first official act as King, to elevate her to the rank of Duchess of Sussex & Caithness and also to grant her the Crown Estate of the Castle of Mey as her official residence. Both of these gifts I hope will signify our thanks for a wonderful career of service to the United Kingdom that I have no doubt will continue for years to come.

Today is a momentous occasion, as we gather to celebrate the continuation of a timeless tradition and witness the accession of a new monarch to the throne of this great region. With profound humility and deep gratitude, I stand before you as your new King. I have chosen the Regnal name of George in tribute of two of my favourite Kings and examples I want to embody during my time on the throne. The IRL King George VI and out very own King George VIII. Both were men of determination, men who personally sacrificed for the good of the United Kingdom, who put duty before personal need, men of kindness and compassion.

As I ascend to the throne, I am keenly aware of the responsibility that has been entrusted to me. The crown is not merely a symbol of authority; it represents a solemn duty to serve my people, to protect the values that define our nation, and to strive for the betterment of all those who call this region their home.

I pledge to uphold the principles of democracy, equality, and justice that have been the bedrock of our society. To highlight the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of every individual, regardless of their background or personal history. I will respect and defend the rights and liberties of every individual, fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated and cherished. I aim to promote unity and inclusivity, transcending any differences that might divide us, and to build bridges between communities, groups, and generations.

But let us not forget that the true heart of our nation lies within its people. I am truly grateful for the love and support you have shown me, and I promise to be a King who listens, understands, and acts in the best interests of my subjects. My door shall always remain open, and my commitment to transparency and accountability shall be unwavering.

In this journey, I will not walk alone. Alongside my dedicated advisors, your representatives, and the tireless public servants that make up our regional institutions, we shall strive for the betterment of the United Kingdom as a united and cohesive force.

As we move forward into a new era, I humbly ask for your prayers and guidance. Together, let us build a brighter future, not just for this generation but for the generations yet to come. May the hand of Providence guide us, and may the United Kingdom continue to stand as a symbol of hope, progress, and compassion for all.
