Civitas Roleplay

Explore the world of Civitas!

Join your fellow Community Members in our region's unique roleplay world! In Civitas, nations roleplay with each other in all matters of diplomacy, trade, and war. Take control of your nation and engage with the world around you in our serious and professional roleplay setting! We encourage you to get involved by applying for land by following the instructions further on this dispatch.

Civitas is available for all roleplayers both experienced and completely new! We want Community to be welcoming to all levels of roleplayers while maintaining a high quality. If you're new to roleplay, use this dispatch as a reference and ask questions! The best way to learn how to roleplay is to start today!

We roleplay as nations in the world of Civitas. Currently, there are only two known continents (as displayed on the map). This may not be the entirety of Civitas, it is only the known world. The origins of modern society aren't entirely known. Nations throughout the world may notice ruins or other unnatural structures scattered around their lands, especially those nations in the eastern continent. These structures are likely from a past human civilization that had existed and prospered long ago, only to be driven to extinction by some unknown cause. There are no records from this era, but from what can be discerned from the ruins, this sort of event only happened once in the world's history. Help us build more of the history and setting of Civitas in our world-building discussion on Discord!

Civitas is set in a world that is between a modern and futuristic civilization. We look at it as roughly 30-50 years from the real world time. Technology will be addressed on a case-by-case basis as needed, but keep this sentiment in mind when roleplaying your nation.

Examples of technologies that would be allowed: Generalized AI Citizens, fusion reactors, and space tethers

Examples of technologies that would not be allowed: Flying cars, augmented human cyborgs, antimatter grenades

The roleplay takes place on one planet, Civitas, nations may have space programs that travel off of the planet, but no nation is to the point of colonizing another planet or moon and travel should be limited to within the local solar system for manned spacecraft. Other goals related to space, such as asteroid mining, may be allowed given it fits within the guidelines of the technology and setting of Civitas.

If you're unsure whether your technological innovations will fit within the world's setting, please reach out to Krilgox or Marim grunzy for guidance.

  1. You are only in control of your nation. You are not allowed to control another nation's settings or actions. Any scenario where things would be destroyed in another nation, such as in a war, there needs to be explicit consent between all nations involved in the action before it is included (communicate with the person on Discord or via telegram first!).

  2. Border expansion needs significant roleplay justification and needs to be approved before it is implemented and updated on the map. As a rule, this will almost always be denied. Any border changes that involve other nations must also have the explicit consent of all parties involved in addition to this qualification.

  3. Nations may wage war on other nations with their consent. Every nation involved in a conflict must provide consent before being included. You cannot forcefully bring another nation into a conflict (or out of one).

  4. Nations may trade with other nations with their consent.

  5. Nuclear weapons or equivalent weapons of mass destruction (such as a deadly bio-virus) are not permitted.

  6. When posting roleplay alongside non-roleplay, you should clarify when you are talking in-character (IC) or out-of-character (OOC). This is only needed in messages that include both tones.

IC: The delegate from Marim Grunzy has issued a statement regarding the recent sanctions placed on the nation of Krilgox.

OOC: Can you message me on Discord some information about your nation? :)

  7. Your nation can only act on information that they obtained while in-character. You cannot use things you learn OOC (such as in Discord, or reading someone's factbook) to influence your nation's actions in roleplay.
