The Charred Wastelands of Sorthern Northland is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Rhys O'Donnell with an iron fist, and notable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, cynical population of 11.082 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Beningrad. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Prices for nearly everything reach all time highs as business subsidies are discontinued, parents must choose their children's names from a government-mandated master list, pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, and the police crack down on tax evaders without mercy. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sorthern Northland's national animal is the Donkey, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is 1093ism, and its currency is the SN Ruble.

Sorthern Northland is ranked 6th in Atlantian Oceania and 1,558th in the world for Happiest Citizens, scoring 12 on the Relative Cheerfulness Rating.
