The Grand Holy Empire of Shin-Imota is a colossal, orderly nation, ruled by Empress Kagami with an iron fist, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies, suspicion of poets, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 9.111 billion Imotans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.
The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded, well-organized morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mitakihara. The average income tax rate is 89.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.
The large but sluggish Shin-Imotan economy, worth 231 trillion Imotan Yen a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is extremely specialized, is mostly made up of the Book Publishing industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing. Average income is 25,455 Imotan Yen, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Stray cats threaten the fledgling avian-based internet, there is an abondance of ackawi and zartschmelzend in every Shin-Imotan grocery store, politicians cheer the nation's surging death rate, and citizens are forced to donate blood once every three months. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Shin-Imota's national animal is the bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
Shin-Imota is ranked 33,949th in the world and 1st in Imota for Safest, scoring 107.46 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
