When Indonesia was originally annexed by Japan. A small breakaway state named Timor-Leste was formed mostly by anti-Japanese, ultra-nationalist Indonesians. Empress Haruhi seeing that it would be so easy to crush these separatists. She sends only 20 cruisers to bombard their ports and cities. The incredibly weak coastal defenses fail and the government collapses within 48 hours. The Imperial Japanese Marines land on the island and claim it for the Empire of Japan. The territory is incorporated into Japanese Indonesia.

Timor-Leste is like the brother of the popular kid that never gets attention.
Indonesia used to be a Dutch colony while East Timor was Portuguese so they were given independence separately, Indonesia in 1949 after a war of independence and East Timor in 1975. However right after independence Indonesia invaded and occupied it until 1999 when a referendum was held after 24 years of the Indonesian government torturing or killing people in East Timor a UN transitional government was set up for independence and Indonesian troops left. 3 years later the country became independent in 2002 and considering the history of the country with Indonesia it isn’t keen to give up its independence soon.

The assault on portugal
Due to recent Portugal pressure on the Australian colony of New Zealand, Australia declares a surprise way on Portugal. Due to portugal being quite skinny and having a lot of coastline, the Australians decide on a coastal bombardment. 10 cruisers and 7 battlewagons encounter some resistance from coastal batteries, and 2 are sunk. However, they are quickly located and fired upon. The ships then engage with a battle with a couple of portugese ships, in which another 6 cruisers are sunk. As they finally run parallel to the Portugese shoreline, they fire on coastal cities, setting towns and buildings ablaze. Portugal asks Spain for help, but Spain does not wish to be mixed up with Australia in a war. As the bombardment continues, the president realizes there is no choice. He signs a treaty giving Portugal to Australia, but begs them to stop the bombardment, for fear of losing more citizens.
