Military access is the biggest pooball in EU.

Esotana wrote:I regard this civil war and POD as non Canon, and effectively non existent, so there likely won't be any effects.
(I decided this a long time back, not just now to keep my economy going, I'm doing it because the civil war and indeed POD itself is quite unrealistic)

Or just deciding to ignore the situation entirely and do whatever you does. :P

Eranshahir wrote:Coming from a Veteran of the Army, here's my thought's on POD's civil war:
It isn't realistic. In less than a week more people have died than the Soviets lost in the entire span of WWII. If we saw something like that happen in real life, nation's that don't even get along with each other would suddenly be putting aside differences. Since NationStates is a game we often times look at things short term, but RL governments look at things in terms of long-term, and the long-term global effects of POD's civil war would be astonishing. Just to name a few:
1. It would have the potential to create global economic crises on the 1929 Global Depression level. Nukes are bad for the global economy. Businesses and global economies are timid things, they're like turtles. Realistically, with POD's usage on himself, everyone's economy should be tanking right now.
2. A global task force comprised of basically everyone would be meeting to discuss the situation. Not just how to handle it, but how to handle the after-effects. Because once it's over, you're going to have millions of people starving, trying to flee the area, bringing with them their belongings - all of which have been in contact with high amounts of nuclear radiation.
3. A huge amount of Sunalaya's manufacturing is done in Divergia and Kaiming. The exact amount, I can't say - but I know that both spots are huge manufacturing hotspots for global industry. They both border POD. This means the entire world has a vested interest in their stability. They're also the two most prone nations to be destabilised by these events. Why? Because millions of people are going to be fleeing south into their borders. Which means unless both nations work together and internationally to prevent all of these fleeing citizens from POD to enter their nation they're at a huge risk of being destabilised, which ties into 1 again.

When you think of it, this would make total sense for the region to have some long-lasting effects due to the present, meaning that it would be logical that PODians would try to flee some the area (this of course, depends on how loyal they are to either the "Dictatorship" or the community they live in/support). It would cause an economic decline across the world, as those who have interest in that region would begin to lose so, especially those in the financial and stock market sectors.
Whether it's played out or not would be uncertain at this time, which is pkay because I still think my economy would still be kinda sucky after a little mishap. :)

Hoenstly this is the most interesting thing to RP. Not whatever this region's been doing with it.

I mean, you're somewhat in that area, right?
Because it would be fun to sink the world back to the either the 1930's or the 80's! :P

I had a layover in Reykjavik and I went outside at 4 AM to explore a little in 0°C weather, it was worth it.

They were high yield air bursts the radiation is minimal. Otherwise it would be non canon.

All of those are good points.
For number two we already are. The reason we aren't all invading Pod to stop him is because of fear of being nuked ourselves.
For number three I have the Devalayas blocking refugees. Good luck enduring the tallest mountain range in sunalaya.
Do number one yes the effects will be huge. This is why I'm hosting a conference on nuclear weapons after the war. This many people dying is going to have drastic impacts on nuclear policy alone. But:
No one knows how many have died yet. Even if pod claims 30 million died that could just be a lie to get foreign powers to get involved on someone's behalf. It's also hard to figure out the yields of his nukes. While they're big enough yields that they aren't true air bursts, they weren't surface bursts or detonated underground. Plus the soil Aznazia might effect readings of seismic waves as well.

Hey Smoya didn't your companies invest heavily into cheap manufacturing in the POD along with Lindenholt.

That's another thing only 3 people really trade with pod. The two mentioned above and Rhodevus.

Where were y'all last week when I was freaking out and comparing it to ww2? XD

Superpower 2 has a small toxic online community and is pretty bland after 30 minutes of single player. I wouldn't recommend it.

If you can't come back to activity, can I annex D'Fleuves at some point in our history?
