Nah, we had a regional competition, and we voted on this as our flag. It's not the most complex flag ever... looks at Bhutan

If you ever want to look at complex flag designs, might I suggest: the flag of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I ran for the first time because the only other candidate was someone who'd almost never interacted with the region. I ran the second time because there were a couple of things I'd wanted to finish from my first term.
I don't have any reason to run for a third time, provided I think there's a decent candidate running, and it'd be healthier for the region to have a change of delegate rather than me sitting on top for another six months.

Meh, the saudi's flag's a bit boring. I really like Iran's; the kufic script border looks really pretty

Many nations and delegates have come and gone during my time here. And as one era ends, let another begin. I wish any candidates who choose to run the best of luck*. I will throw my hat into the ring again at some point. IMHO the delegacy should have a term limit applied to it. At a future election I will make this part of my platform. Let’s have a good clean contest, maybe.

...but with everything going on, my heart just isn't in it. Doesn't feel like the time for being frivolous about authority and oppression when there's desert camo humvees parked a couple blocks away and dudes with machine guns patrolling Broad Street.

There's a sad desperation permeating my city at the moment, and it has driven folks from peaceful protest and into the welcoming arms of avaricious looting and a general lust for destruction. The poorest neighborhoods in the city are eating themselves alive, and it's really awful to watch. Entrenched poverty is a terrible thing, and when combined with years of systemic oppression, well, periodic explosions of frustration, such as this, often results.

I feel a great sadness at the moment. And exhaustion, from days on end of constant worry and a morbid desire to follow every single new movement and development.

All of this is to say, I would still like to serve as delegate of this region, but I don't think I can be very fun at the moment, so I apologize if the campaign turns out boring. Hopefully the malaise doesn't endure.

I could see if I can whip up something "prideful" that would be suitable for the region and the occasion. Would probably be a nice distraction to work on something like that.

I haven't been following the events of Chicago. I used to live there, and feel a strong affinity for the city. What's the sense in the air? And is the rioting contained to the South Side, or is it elsewhere, too?
