In order to honour our alliance with Aidia, a state of war shall now exist between ourselves and Baikala. It shall last for as long as they continue to promote military aggression towards our Aidian allies.
Bagnallian ships will soon depart to support allied forces across the seas.

First minor battle starts just bordering Aienia's waters

The Heliosetic Delta Fleet has shot their first gunfire today near Aienia, in a scouting mission in research of possible Baikalan ships bound for Givorondia or Aidia, the Delta fleet found the Baikalan 1st Fleet under Nimshakov, and the gunfire is still being shot by both sides.

Already, the frigate HNS Eclipse has been sunk by Baikalan forces, and some StormWinger UCAVs have been deployed for air support in the battle. Commander Jyen Bairon has died after the HNS Eclipse, the ship in which he was in, got sinked. Meanwhile, Aienian Forces are in red alert in case of being forced into the war, but currently, they will not be involved.

Defence Minister’s call for mobilisation supported by Chamber after Baikala, Bagnallia, and Nuevo Helios join Aidian-Floysarian war

KASSYM – The Chamber of the People, Ozyrnia’s parliament, supports a call made by Defence Minister Kasme Nakyt to start mobilisation of the Ozyrnian armed forces, after what started as a clumsy war between Floyssauu and Greater Aidia attracted the attention of three more nations: Baikala declared war on Greater Aidia earlier this week and thus joined the side of Floyssauu; Bagnallia and Nuevo Helios thereupon declared war on Baikala and entered the war as allies of Greater Aidia. According to the Minister, our country may be obliged to join the war soon, due to its involvement in the Unity Conference. “Although no treaty has been signed yet, let alone ratified, the Conference’s intention is clear and our nation will thus be required to defend its allies”, he said. “I confess that this is clearly not what this government expected when we joined the Conference, but it would be morally wrong to back out now.”

Not everybody agrees with this point of view however. Although the leftist Republican Party (LP) and the environmentalist Nature Party (OP), together occupying 20 of 71 seats in the Chamber of the People, voted with the majority of the other parliamentarians to support mobilisation, LP leader Karave Pardusnvabor said that this support must under no circumstance be interpreted as support for Ozyrnia joining the international organisation that will be the result of the Unity Conference. “It is not in the interest of the Ozyrnian people to join a club that is at war”, she said. “Ozyrnia is clearly situated between Floyssauu and Baikala; I think I don’t need to teach you how to predict the outcome us pissing them off.”

“Well, it’s not like Ozyrnia on one side and Floyssauu and Baikala on the other are neighbours”, Vary Gelossyk, leader of the socialdemocrat party Workers for Progress and Solidarity (SKP) countered. “And we won’t be alone in this war, so although there is a chance that we will be attacked from two sides, the same will apply to our theoretic attackers.”

There is an ongoing discussion between members of the Chamber of the People whether there will be a majority to approve a bill to issue a Mandate to Declare War to the President, Tasno Erandyk, in the current circumstances. The President can only declare war without the approval of the Chamber when the country is under attack. If this is not the case, but if there is a significant threat or other reasons that require Ozyrnia to go to war, the Chamber can issue a temporary Mandate to the President, during which he is free to declare war. Such a Mandate has a duration of two months maximum, but can be renewed indefinitely if necessary. Apart from the question whether our nation should join a war based on an international treaty that has not been signed yet by anyone, there will also be presidential elections soon, and some parties in the Chamber fear that the war will be politicised to grant President Erandyk a second term in office.

Aidian Review: Special Update!

It has been a little over a week since our submarine taskforce, Classis V, was taken out in the corridor of death. The ARN Shield was, thankfully, able to surrender before it was given a final blow, but the Warhammer, Pike, Scythe, and Longsword were not so fortunate, as they were sunk and very few escaped a watery grave below. Marked Helicopters and marked civilian ships did what they could to recover the bodies of the fallen, but refloatation and recovery efforts in a tense situation are difficult at best. The efforts have also been placed on hold as a handful of small Aidian ships make a desperate attempt to mine the corridor.

Regardless, it is confirmed that 1st of 3rd Tadia Habita, leader of Classis V and CO of the ARN Scythe, was killed in the battle. Her remains have yet to be recovered from what is left of the Scythe's collapsed hull. All in all, it is expected that 230 sailors lost their lives to the sea.

President Scaeva has yet to make a statement on the battle, however he has told the nation to "hold a day of remembrance for those we lost." The Aidian government has issued an evacuation notice to all the citizens of Cor Urbis. It isn't mandatory for adults (and many citizens in the city are deciding to stick behind and fight should the enemy reach Cor Urbis' shores), but it is mandatory for children. The line of busses, trains, and planes shipping children off to the Aidian countryside and to other cities is massive, and the entire ordeal has become a huge collaborative effort between the APCF and local militias as many families across the country take in children so they can be safe from the war.

In other news, Classis I, II and IV have met up at the corridor's opening, waiting at the mouth while, as mentioned before, many patrol boats and a few frigates rush to mine small patches of the corridor, using any mines as they can get their hands, from advanced CAPTOR mines to dummy mines. While the large fleet, now named Classis Excelsus, prepares for the impending attack, Lead 1st of 2nd Fidiculania Metella has ordered Classis III to patrol the rest of the coastline and Classis VI to sit at Cor Urbis and provide support should the enemy break through the line. She has also placed all coastal artillery and mainland defense sites on full alert, ordering their missile silos to be ready at a moment's notice.

"We're as ready as we'll ever be," Fidiculania said aboard the ARN Divinity, her Divinity-class flagship. "I hope we will be able to prevail, but it's difficult to tell if fortune will favor us in the upcoming storm. May our ancestors guide us as our enemy comes."

Mayor of Aldaryk Imma Lokmus announces her candidacy for President

ALDARYK – Imma Lokmus, the Mayor of northern Ozyrnia’s largest city Aldaryk, has announced today that she will be a candidate in the upcoming elections for President of the Republic. She is the first one to do so officially; although some other potential candidates stated their intention in the last couple of months and although it is widely expected that the incumbent president Tasno Erandyk, who will be eligible for a second term, will make his candidacy official soon, Lokmus today became the first official candidate for President.

“I know I shouldn’t pay any attention to opinion polls”, Lokmus opened her press conference jokingly, “but if these numbers are real then the Ozyrnian people definitely needs a different President! You have all known me in the past nine years as the Mayor of Aldaryk, who brought stability after the drug related riots that haunted this city for years; you know me as a person who doesn’t insult people without noticing, who doesn’t stumble on his words when confronted with tough situations, and who delivers the results she promised in her very first campaign! I know our current president seemed a likeable candidate for our esteemed members of the Chamber four years ago, but to be honest: Ozyrnia can do much better than that, and if I must believe the polls, my friends, and my hairdresser, Ozyrnia needs much better than that! And that is why I have decided to put myself forward as a candidate for President of the Republic of Ozyrnia!”

It is expected that the Chamber of the People will start the procedures to elect the President of the Republic in the next couple of weeks and announce a formal deadline for any candidates to declare themselves. Any Ozyrnian citizen of 42 years or older who hasn’t been convicted of any crimes and who gathers 5000 signatures as well as the endorsements of at least three of the 71 members of the Chamber of the People is allowed to become a candidate.
