Yes I do, what does it represent?

Green could stand for Liberalism (I didn't quite remember if i picked that one)

I wonder if anyone has done a test of the demographics of the owners of NationStates accounts.

It would no doubt be difficult to figure out, and there's potential to lie, but it'd be interesting. What do you guys think?

Do you mean knowing about origin, age, etc ? I agree, this would be very interesting. But I guess it's almost impossible, considering the amount of puppets.

I imagine that 80%, or at least a majority of the players come from the US.

A rather more comedic(ok actually very comedic) approach to the topic of the war in Ukraine:

I think it's kinda nice to sometimes have a lighter look on things. I mean, the war is still terrible for the people who live there, I personally couldn't stay that calm with air raids etc. Let's hope that this war will end soon.

Here you go, this should give you an idea of what the usual age of players is.

It's a bit scary knowing that there are so many adults on a website. I actually thought there were more teens than adults...

NationStates does have a very… aging…? populace. The stats probably reflect on the fact that most joined on their teenage years, and got older along the way, getting their nations to go on without ceasing to exist.

Yeah, that poll was 10 years ago, but it's the most recent one I found.

I joined at 13 and I had no idea the site even had forums too for years (not that I'd searched) - I think the most accurate census would come out of distributing the survey via telegram campaign. I've answered something like that I while ago I believe but god knows if there were ever any public results. My guess from my experience on NS is mainly ages from 15 to 30 and Americans would make about 50 %.

What made you get into nationstates? Where did you guys find it? For me it was my group of friends ( we're big into history, geneology and nation building). My friend had read the book Jennifer Government and found out NationStates and the rest they say is history.

I was bored and I have always been very obsessed with geography, history and fantasy so I just randomly searched for country games and then I found multiple games but Nationstates just was the best one so I stuck to it for the last nearly 1.5 years.

If you want, we can conduct a "census" here in the region at least. But there are two conditions I think: firstly, it must be ensured that each person responds only once (so not their puppets) and secondly, the anonymity of respondents must be guaranteed.

What would you like to know about us? I would start with age and country of origin, but we could also have mother tongue, "social situation" (wether you are at day care ;-) at school, at university, in a retirement home, etc).

I joined because I wanted to find a community/game about politics, geography, history and nation building since I really got into that stuff , I tried many others and then found this. After that I received a telegram by France Europe and joined this region.

My school had been cancelled for Covid and I was just scrolling around and came across it. I decided to make an account and got recruited to The Royal Alliance III by Amantes Farchka and the situation eventually brought me here.

For me it was my serious interest in IRL nations' histories and historic figures that ironically led to coming across NationStates three years ago last month. My best move within the game had been coming to LDA last August.

In my NS experience a professed 10 year-old played in the region I first settled. Believable enough because their nation's leader was 'Joe, the Janitor'.

I had shared this in past months responding to a similar RMB topic.

Friend told me about a chill political game and that we could play it. He got instantly banned from one of the normie megaregions for being a nationalist, or rather having the word "nationalist" in his name and went looking for a region with more freedom and some roleplay. Thats how we ended here on our day 1.

This must be done.

Would the mods allow this though?
Anonymity cannot be achieved via poll here, which platform would we use?
Preferably one where we would divulge nation name for purposes of counting, without having it assigned to its particular list of answers.

I liked the idea.

I found a video on the internet of a person introducing the Nation States, got interested and joined the game.

Google forms is a good idea for anonymity.

The hill I will die on is not disclosing my email. Do I sound paranoid? Yes. But just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.

So if you can do forms without email, great! If not, well then…
