According to most modern economic theories, minimum wage should hurt the economy. But we learned in high school and college economics that despite that fact, the minimum wage actually ended up helping the economy. So my theory is that there is a tipping point somewhere between having a good minimum wage that helps the economy and a large minimum wage that breaks the economy.
Considering almost everything near me lays more than minimum wage, even fast food jobs, I'd say we are NOWHERE NEAR that here in Texas or the USA.

Meanwhile, I'd say California's wage is well on and above what can be paid by people. Maybe in South Cal people can afford this outrageously high minimum wage (which from all I've heard, seems not even they can afford it), but up here? RIP.

What does that have to do with literally anything? Also I live in one of the most conservative states so your argument is invalid lol

(Sorry to double post but it has been much longer than the time allowed in the laws and I don't see the point in editing this in after almost 6 hours.)

Considering how expensive things are in Southern California, I would assume that kind of minimum wage is basically a necessity. I know the minimum wage here (the effective minimum of $8-10 an hour, not the real minimum of $7.25 or even lower if you get tips) you can only survive on if you share an apartment and have no kids or old parents to take care of. And even then it depends on how many hours you can get of course

I would try not to emulate Dr. Jack Griffin.

Try harder to be visible the next day.

Life is about being noticed, darling!

...Which sounds good in theory. But in practice, so many businesses simply cannot afford it and have either fired people so they can pay that wage to the remaining employees, or just gone under altogether. So people've gone from being 'underpaid' to unemployed. Much better.
California is a broken mess, what can I say?

Um.
Probably stay home until it wears off, cuz I feel like something bad would just happen to me with nobody able to see me.

Nope

Guardian of Gaia wrote:Question of the Day: Would you be willing to reduce your life span by 10 years to become rich or famous?

Nope, nope, nope.
With my luck, I'd be taking off 10 of 12 remaining years or something dumb like that.

Guardian of Gaia wrote:Question of the Day: Would you be willing to reduce your life span by 10 years to become rich or famous?

I might consider it if I could be rich and not famous...
But honestly just no

Guardian of Gaia wrote:Question of the Day: Would you be willing to reduce your life span by 10 years to become rich or famous?

NO!

Guardian of Gaia wrote:Question of the Day: Would you be willing to reduce your life span by 10 years to become rich or famous?

1) Depends on how technology progresses. If stuff like nanotechnology becomes able to extend a person's life by rebuilding damaged and dead cells, then 2) depends on how rich. If technology could reach that point by putting major investments in it then hell yes.
