Hello everyone, I'm Timiskrane, if you're in the discord you probably know me. I'm currently a diplomat (ambassador to Caer Sidi) looking to move up in the world of NS Foreign Affairs by becoming the MoFA. I hope to earn your vote this afternoon, it would be a honour and immense privilege for me to be able to serve and represent Conch Kingdom
In terms of my campaign, I'm running on a platform of revitalisation. I think the FA of CK has been kinda left to rot latley if I'm gonna be honest, and so I think it needs a fresh coat of paint under my new enthusiastic leadership to get us back on the spotlight on the world stage
Khlachten: Greetings everybody, I'm the leader of Khlachten and I am running for Minister of Foreign Affairs. I'm generally into politics and in my free time, I play a lot of political games other than NationStates. I also go to my local swimming pool when I'm free.
I joined Conch Kingdom in December 2021 and I always wanted to be involved. 3 months ago I tried becoming Junior Minister but suddenly all positions were filled. Now I decided to try out for the Minister of Foreign Affairs position.
The main reason I'm running for this position is to build more embassies in Conch Kingdom. In 2022 only 3 new embassies have opened so far and in 2021 only 10 embassies were opened (most of them were closed in the future anyway). If I become MoFA I plan to create more than 10 embassies so we can make Conch Kingdom friendlier to other regions. I also plan to relax the embassy requirements so we can help new regions grow and create more communications. Of course, a key to building our relationship is to host events with our embassies that's why I'll implement them too.
Kurs: Very cool! Very cool. So, can we have, in no uncertain terms, what you both hope to accomplish? Itemized lists ranked by priority are ideal, but feel free to prose it if you want

Timiskrane: Getting straight to point I see! Well I first things first want to dust off the cobwebs on the FA. The FA policy document and activity logs haven't been updated in ages, despite things happening, and so I want to do a rewrite of the whole document as well as actually start keeping proper reccords again like the FA used to.
Second order of priority is of course maintain and revitalizing our relationships with our current partners
And of course, I want to keep us on the lookout for new interesting partners and new opportunities to get more involved and be more active again in the wider NS community.
Khlachten: - I plan to create more embassies so we can help both our region and others grow and also have a more welcoming environment for other regions of NationStates.
- I would discuss with our embassies and our Minister of Domestic Affairs to host events with our embassies. That'll make Conch Kingdom more active and entertaining too.
- I would like to relax and update our Embassies entry requirements and policies so more embassies can join us.
Kurs: Fascinating! Onto the specifics, now, which is where it gets tricky. What're your plans pertaining to our embassy partners? Anything in the way of expansions, pruning, events, all that good stuff?
Timiskrane: My planned embassy requirements are virtually the same as they are now. I think we have decent standards, and I do think we should be looking for quality partners, and not just partners for the sake of partners. I don't think embassies with a 15 nation region is gonna do much for us to be honest. I do want to expand and give us more embassies, but it will still be a selective and vetted process.
And of course I want more events. Near the beginning of my campaign I lamented the fact that Caer Sidi gets invited to many more interregional activities then us, so I of course plan to communicate with the other FA leaders to see what can be done on that front.
Khlachten: As I said before, expanding our embassies is the main goal that I'd like to accomplish. Our current embassies that we have and accept per year are sadly too low compared to other nations of our size so if I become the MoFA I plan to recruit as many embassies as possible. This will help both us and other regions grow. I have already set a goal to increase our embassies to at least 10 before the next elections which I'm really motivated to accomplish.
On events, I plan to discuss them with our future MoDA and our embassies. Conch Kingdom has never been active on the events side so it's time to finally host events with our embassies.
Finally, I plan on re-writing our embassies policies and requirements to be able to accept more future partners and keep them here!
Kurs: And now we move onto the Prime Mover: Our relationship with the URA. Anything in particular that either of you wants to pontificate as to that regard, stances and plans and so forth?
Timiskrane: I think the URA is a great organization. It's a helpful network CK should continue to contribute to, both in terms of WA voting and of event organizing. (If you were at the URA Grand Showcase this year you probably saw me around participating in the festivities)
Khlachten: I think that we already have a great relationship with the URA. Of course, improving it more would be perfect so hosting more events, performing tactical meetings, and discussing our region issues is a must for me and it would surely benefit both our relationship and our region members.
Kurs: Do you have any plans for significant reform relating to the Foreign Affairs Ministry's most esteemed ambassadors and other sundry personnel? If so, break it down for us here.
Timiskrane: Well first off, I think the major problem is right now, no one even knows who is working in the FA. The Officials directory has not been updated to reflect the most current changes, Hockey literally had to just ask in the Group Chat if anyone was an ambassador to this one region, because he had no way of knowing. It's very disorganized and needs to be formalized. Revamp the directory, make a formal Ambassador application process for prospective diplomats to express their interest, and just generally grease the gears to get the machine rolling smoothly again, not dancing around in the zombified state it has been in.
Khlachten: For the time I do not have any plans on changing the ambassadors or any other personnel. I'd like to work with them to create a more effective environment for Conch Kingdom and that's why I won't remove anyone.
Kurs: Now that I've asked questions from me, it's time to ask questions from the public.
For Klalatchen: Hi got a question for the debate for Khlatchen. You say CK has very few embassies and you want to open more. What is a proper number for a region to have embassy wise? What regions do you have in mind to open embassys with?
For Timiskrane: Ziromnia?

Khlachten: Sadly it does. I would say that a proper number of embassies would be around 40 to 50 since we are not a really big region and having more would mean hosting more events which we are currently not capable of. Of course the more embassies we have the better it is but I'll try to stay on this number. I have in mind to open embassies with both large (mostly in our size, not too large regions like the Pacific's for the time being since they require a lot of work and time but I'd be more than happy to also have an embassy with them in the feature) and small regions that would like to open diplomatic ties with us!
Timiskrane: lol what is that question. Ziromnia is cool but I don't see how it relates to the CK FA. I will say (hijacking Khlatchen's question here) personally I think a good place for us to look for future partners is people that have embassies with our partners, but that we don't have direct communication with.
Kurs: As we move into the final stages of our debate, do you two have any questions for one another?
Khlachten: For the moment no but I have to say that Timiskrane is a very good candidate and I wish the best for his campaign!
Timiskrane: Sure, I would like to ask Khlachten: You have not been a very active member of CK thus far. Prior to the campaign, your RMB posts numbered less then 20, and discord presence wasn't much better. Can we trust you to be a dedicated and consistently active MoFA? Do you have the experience and qualifications needed to run the FA?
Khlachten: Well, no lies here, I have to admit that I wasn't very active on CK but I also have to say that if I become Minister of Foreign Affairs I will dedicate my time and not abandon my position like the previous MoFA did without even leaving a resignation letter or something. Of course, you can trust me and you'll also see it if I get elected for this position :). I might not have worked at any position here although I have tried to become a Junion Minister and had serious talks with some members from here including some previously elected members, I have experience with the MoFA position in numerous other political games (online or not) and political science is one of the majors I have chosen for my college and actively studying it on my school + I am a member of a political group/young wing.
