Hello all. Can someone explain to me what Reigons do, and what the whole 'zombie' thing is?

Regions are essentially organizations of nations, comparable to guilds in MMOs. Some are big, some are small, some are powerful, some aren't, you get the idea. Most small regions have a definitive purpose (like providing a forum for debate), but big regions like 10000 Islands don't.

The zombie thing (or Z-day for short) is an annual Halloween event. Zombies will show up and eat people, and you have three options: shoot them, cure them, or actively zombify people. XKI is taking an anti-zombie stance this year, so go for extermination or curing if you want to help. (If you want to zombify people, move your nation to 10000 Zombies for the duration of the event and contact Louisistan for further information.)
It should be noted that the event doesn't affect your stats, and there is no consequence for ignoring it besides the fact that you'll miss out on all the fun.

There are a variety of regions in the game, each with a distinct culture, although some more developed than others. If Nation States is a world, then regions are the divisions within that world, where nations may choose to reside.

There is diplomatic interaction between many of the regions, some regions form alliances for various reasons (security, political influence, etc), some regions keep to themselves, some dedicate exclusively to a single interest or theme, some are militaristic, etc.

This region has a nice balance of a lot of the elements of the game that people enjoy, with extended activity offsite. It's also user-created, as opposed to the game-created region (GCR) where your nation spawned. The benefits of being in a region like XKI are that it is large and secure, tailored to the wants and needs of players, but not so huge that you're just an anonymous face in an overwhelming crowd. It's a good sweet spot.

Zombies: Every Hallowe'en there is a mini-game within Nation States that simulates a zombie invasion. The results on your nation are temporary, and engaging in Z-Day won't leave a permanent mark. Once the event ends, everything goes back to normal.

Some nations will seek to spread the zombie plague to other nations; some nations will seek to cure other nations from the plague. Your nation will get a Z-Day overlay once the event starts, and you'll find a couple of options on how to proceed. If you're not into it, you can simply ignore it all.

So, I haven’t been playing long enough to know how to deal with Z-Day.

Don't worry, you'll figure it out soon enough.

From what I remember, there will be a series of zombie related things that will affect new categories for your nation such as numbers of dead, infected, and survivors. You will be able to either spread the infection willingly or try to stop it with military power or research. After the event ends, everything goes back to how it was before and there are no long term effects.

Sometimes I really love this game, I just made a decision about solitary confinement and suddenly over 3% of my population is dying in war.

I get that. Somehow 1.3% of my pops die from raven attacks

How do I engage in Z-Day? Will it be an "Issue"?

You'll get an extra button on your nation page. Instructions will be there.

Hey, you all seem like nice people. I registered yesterday, and my climate is terrible. Does anybody know how I can get my landscape back and remove some of the industrialization?

There is no shortage of environmental issues in the game. You'll have lots of chances to improve things. Just keep answering issues, make some green choices, and it'll work out.

We're actually pretty active, just not as active as the feeders and sinkers that's all.

We have a good time. Our external forum is always busy!

My favorite time of the year. I'd like to see us make a concerted effort to cure the outbreak but we'll see how it goes.

*Civil rights fall*
*Authoritarianism rises*

Ewar has won the War on Brasilistan, and Brasilistan has become a colony of Ewar, with it's citizens becoming Ewarian citizens. In light of this, and in some anticipation of perhaps further colonization, Ewar is now officially reclassified as an empire.

Are we going for zombies or cure this year?
