Region: The Vincence Empire

November 20, 1912. All across the United States.
The different factions sat down in their offices in entirely different parts of the country, awaiting news of the presidential election. The White League had gained enough power that they put forth a presidential candidate in the 1912 election. The entirety of the White League in the South supported the White League candidate, George Carter. The National Equality Bloc voted for the Democratic Party candidate, Woodrow Wilson. The Bull Moose Party, led by Theodore Roosevelt, proves a challenge for both the Democrats and the White League, but Wilson manages to take advantage of the chaos in the Conservative side of the government and wins the election with the promise of quickly reuniting the country in the event of a civil war as well as tariff reductions and banking reforms to help the country recover in such an event.

November 20, 1912. Richmond, Virginia.
The White League is furious, especially George Carter, who claims that Wilson only won because of the black vote as a result of the influence of the National Equality Bloc. They begin fearing that Wilson will destroy everything the White League has built up and will begin mixing the races. In response to this hypothesized end of Jim Crow, the White League begins arming themselves into militias and begin to seize Federal armories around the country.

November 22, 1912. New York City, New York.
Malcolm Palmer looks through the window in his office in New York City. A newspaper lays on the desk next to him, reading "White League organizing militias, Federal armories and stockpiles seized!" His secretary and friend, Nathan Lane, speaks up. "Malcolm, sir, it's begun. All we can do now to stop the White League is begin arming ourselves. The time for the Free Nation is now." Later that day, American flags all across New England are replaced with the flag of New England, a St. George's cross with a seal in the middle containing a single green pine tree. The NEB begins arming themselves into their own militias, consisting of Irish Brigades, Colored Brigades, German Brigades, even Italian or Canadian brigades.

November 25, 1912. Washington, D.C.
Woodrow Wilson, although not even inaugurated yet, can see the writing on the wall. With both the WL and the NEB arming themselves against each other, a civil war will inevitably break out. Congress raises the National Guard across the Midwest and the Rust Belt, ordering them to maintain order and prepare for a civil war.

November 27, 1912. San Francisco, California.
"With the chaos ensuing on the East Coast of the country, we cannot rely on the Federal government to protect us! We must be able to forge our own destiny, free from a government who will destroy itself over trivial matters. Let us not get involved in this civil war, but rather let us break free and form the Republic of Cascadia!" This message is echoed all across the West Coast, and soon Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada are part of the Republic of Cascadia, who raise a blue, white, and green tricolor with a dark green tree emblazoned on it. It is the flag of Cascadia.

December 14, 1912. Reston, Virginia.
The cold air of the Virginia countryside is suddenly broken by the shouting of men, and the crack of guns. All across a field outside of the town of Reston, Virginia, forces of the Free Nation of New England and the New Confederate States clash in the first battle of the Second American Civil War. Springfields are heard firing in volleys, but soon devolve into a chaotic mess of gunshots erupting suddenly. Within several hours, Federal forces from Maryland arrive and begin firing on the New Englanders and the Confederates. The Confederates retreat, suffering the most casualties, while the New Englanders fight back, repulsing the Maryland National Guard back to Baltimore.

The Second American Civil War has begun.
