PARLIAMENT, QUEBECSHIRE CITY, QUEBECSHIRE - APRIL 4, 2020

The Parliament of Quebecshire has been called to an emergency session as a result of the incidents in Bostonia. On the flood of the Parliament, there is a lot of chatter, unsure of how such an unprecedented situation is to be handled. There is a particularly grave feeling of seriousness, as the seventeen seats seated above and behind the Speaker of the Parliament's podium are occupied for this emergency session by the High Council of Quebecshire. The Parliamentary session is being televised directly across Quebecshire and likely to all of Terraconserva through other media outlets.

Lucien LaRochelle takes his place at his podium and begins addressing the Parliament...

Lucien LaRochelle: "My colleagues, and the citizens of Quebecshire... I have served in this post for nearly six years now, and have encountered many challenges in doing so. I will admit, I never expected my second term to so quickly take such a tragic and unprecedented term. Quebecshire has always sought peace and diplomacy above all else. We have not been the primary subject in a foreign war in centuries, and I have always made my strongest effort to continue the precedent of solving disputes through the Council of Nations.

However, this time has brought us events that nobody in a present generation has encountered. Following the attack on Bostonia, I feel I am left no choice. I do not use the words I am about to suggest lightly. I want everyone, regardless of the side you choose, to consider their decisions carefully. What we do or do not do today will be taught in the future as a pivotal point in history for Quebecshire.

The Morovan leader, Tandi, responded to us crassly, sympathetically, and with disdain. She stated a lack of desire to rectify Morovan sins and then declined to do so. It is because of this I feel there is only one option I can pursue at this point. I am hereby asking the consent of the High Council, and of the Parliament on behalf of the people, to declare war upon the New Morovan Republic and any remnant forces of the Peoples' Republic of Morova."

The chambers responded with mixed reactions, some members gasping and in shock at the proposition and the circumstances that had led to it, others displaying a more sombre response. Regardless, the party leaders moved to speak on the motion.

Gérôme Courbet, Labour Party: "The Labour Party has two tenets at the core of our ideology. Socialism and Revanchism. To allow the Morovan attack on Bostonia, which has hindered the workers of Quebecshire, to go unpunished, would be a betrayal of both principles. Labour stands with the Speaker."

Michelle Haillet, Liberal-Democrats: "War is a very serious thing. Perhaps the most serious thing most of us will vote on in our lifetimes. It should be avoided at all costs, but I believe our Administration has exhausted those other options. The Liberal-Democrats reluctantly concur with the Speaker."

Régis Messier, Quebecshire Conservatives: "To conserve is to cherish, to protect. Taking force against Morova is the only way to protect and cherish the security of Quebecshire at this time."

Rémy Abbadie, Quebecshirite Greens: "Morova deserves justice, but the war will have untold impacts on our environment. The Green party must unfortunately dissent."

Anatole Azéma, The League: "Quebecshirite sovereignty must not be impeded by foreign powers. We stand with the Speaker."

Pascal Vidal, Onward Quebecshire: "Send these heathens back to the hell they crawled out of."

Léonard Philidor, Communist Party: "While we believe the Administration has poorly handled some aspects of the Morovan conflict until this point, both Karamazov and the newer republican iteration of Morova have betrayed the workers in favour of watered-down social democracy or cult-like dictatorships. We stand with the Speaker."

Following the conclusion of the debate, the chambers are called to order for a vote. As the vote count rolls in, it is showcased to the world that Quebecshire is to pass the motion by a margin of 387-81.

Following this, Grandmaster André Bellerose stands from his seat above the Parliament.

André Bellerose: "I believe this to be the most pivotal moment in the history of Terraconserva since a civil war raged Creeperopolis during the era of Grandmaster Arceneaux. I hope I am able to lead as effectively as he did in a time of crisis, and I announce to the Parliament, all Quebecshirites, and the world, that the High Council consents with the request of the Parliament."

The affirmed motion reads as follows.

The Serene State, with the mandate of our Constitution and citizenry, seeks to preserve the security and right to life of the Quebecshirite population. As a result of this, Quebecshire hereby declares a state of war between itself and the New Morovan Republic and any terrorist remnant forces of the Peoples' Republic of Morova. We call on our international allies in the blockade to assist us in this struggle, and we hope to pave a path to long term peace through the actions we must take in this grave time.
